Updated arm pics on profile
Hi Everyone,
I have gotten few questions about my arms and scar placement. So I took some pics tonight and uploaded them to my profile.
I am about 8 months post plastic surgery. My plastic surgeon called the procedure an extended arm lift but I suppose it could also be called an upper body lift since it was combined with a breast lift/breast reduction and removal of all the excess skin on my sides. All told he removed almost 7 lbs of tissue.
There have been some questions as to why I would choose to have the scars placed to the rear of my arms and whether or not I am self conscious about the scars.
I choose the scar placement because I wanted the best possible result for me. I was very clear with my surgeon that function was more important than form. After spending four years in and out of physical therapy, cortisone shots, and mega pain killers I had no problem choosing function over form. But that's just me, I don't really care what most people think about my appearance. I wear tank tops, sleeveless sun dresses, and halter tops in public. When I weighed 351 lbs or more I wore halter tops in public so it's not really new. I attracted attention then and I attract attention now, just for different reasons. Only once has a stranger commented on my scars and it was a guy who told me my scars were sexy. My male friends think that my scars are interesting and a few of them say the scars are erotic and/or exotic. I don't know why and I figured maybe I am better off not knowing why.
With all that being said, I really want to make it clear that I do not think that my way is the best way. It was the best for me. I believe that everyone deserves the best and should not settling for anything less than what we need to make us happy and healthy.
Good luck to everyone and please feel free to ask me if you have questions.
Take care,
Ole

Thanks for posting the new pics. I think the scars look good and will eventually fade even more. But they look good now and you are only 8 months out. I know my scars take a good 2 years to fade completely. I had my lbl done in Oct and am looking forward to an arm lift this fall. Thanks again for updating us.

Brinn, you look absolutely AMAZING!!!!! We've spoken privately before, and I'll say it here publicly again - I wish to God that my arms looked liked yours! :) I "before surgery" arms looked exactly like yours, and so far I've have 2 revisions and lipo (left arm), and I'm still working on them. My surgeon is so wonderful and he won't give up. He didn't do the original surgery, and he's working very diligently to give me better results to live with.
Anyway, back to you, thank You so much for sharing and for always being such a wonderful encouragement to those of us who are hoping and praying for beautiful results such as yours! :) Looking at your results, I'm sure that I could have lived with my scars in the back of my arms also. Right now, they are on the insides of my arms. The placement was not bad at all, but I'm thinking that the skin in that area was not the best to have worked with for the best results. Not to mention that my scars are wide as well - even with every possible treatment (including silicone strips) that I used. I'm not complaining as one who is not grateful, because God knows that I'm kicking my heels with joy over being free from the bondage of the extra weight and skin. I just wish that some of my results were a bit better.
Again, thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing! :) You are beautiful and never look like you ever had a weight problem - EVER!
Take care and God bless you,
Rose

Thanks Rose. I truly appreciate the compliments. My results exceeded my expectations and I believe I was very lucky.
Thank you for sharing your experience. It can't have been easy and I hope that you achieve the results you are hoping for. I agree with you that the freedom from the excess skin and the ease of movement now is worth having the scars.
Good luck Rose and take care.
