Hi Jennifer, I am in a similar boat as you - having my BL/extended TT TOMORROW, and I am freaking out! So nervous, but excited too. But mostly just nervous!!! So scared!

I know it's going to be a long recovery, and I am super nervous about the possibility of developing keloids but since I've decided I'd rather have those than have the skin. What keeps me going is the posssibility that one day, I could wear, and look good in, a two-piece!!! And feel more comfortable with myself in a romantic situations, if you know what I mean. I know it will take time, but I hope the results will be worth it!

If I were you, I would read the board posts from those who have recently had LBL to get a sense of what to expect. But you will do great, almost everyone seems to be so happy! Let's think positive and keep each other updated on our progress!!!

Yup, that's where I was too.

It was like falling asleep, and then waking up as a mummy!  Pain was much less than I anticipated, and except for falling asleep randomly for a week, it was an easy recovery.  Results are fabulous - much tighter body, clothing fits better, easier to move around without all that excess skin dragging.

However - I have now hit the nerve regeneration phase, and suddenly with no warning, it will feel like somebody stuck a hatpin in me.  It goes away fast, but I do wonder when the next "jab" will be.

I don't regret it at all!  I'm thrilled!

When they make any kind of incision, some nerves are cut.  Eventually as you heal, they regenerate and start sending messages again.  My surgeons equated it to the "testing...testing" message over mics: my nerves are seeing if the message gets through to the brain, so they're sending junk (which occasionally feels like a hatpin jab).

No biggie, and they tell me it'll stop in a bit.  But when it happens, it's sure interesting!

I've not had a LBL but I can tell you that MGH is a fabulous hospital and you'll be treated like gold there.  I moved to CT in Nov and had my Brachioplasty & Inner Thigh Lift there and don't regret the traveling for appointments at all!

If you're going to have a serious surgery, you might as well go to the best hospital.  If you have any trouble, talk to your doc's staff.  They'll help you!

Dr. Colwell is my surgeon!  She's very, very good at what she does.  Her staff is outstanding!

The thigh lift hurt more than I expected -- but it's soooo worth it.  It was worse than my panniculectomy but that's all I really have to compare it to.  I had lipo and incisions from a few inches below the inside of my knees and up, through my groin and up the sides of my mons.

The biggest pain in the butt is wearing the compression garments!  Uncomfy & awkward!  But again...well worth it and I'd do it a million times over to have the results I have gotten.

Good luck to you!
