Open wound on Left hip LBL incision 10 weeks out???
I had a 15 inch suture pop out. yes 15 inches. blue thick cotton many threads didnt look like normal sutures 3 years after anchor TT surgery. plastic surgeon swore they were all dissolving sutures . not true! he had to redo my surgery 3x in 07 horrible experience.
I had like 7 pop out as soon as one closed another would open.
so I was told to use peroxide and it would close. not true
I was very fortunate to find a trauma surgeon who went in and cleaned out all of the infection, but he couldn't close me that was Feb, its June now I was on 3 months IV antibiotics , a wound pump kit that sucked up the infection, home nursing care in my home and omg I was miserable.
its still open I'm having a revision in the Dr's office ( the guy who saved my life) Id trust him with anything. i went from gray and convolutions to happy I'm alive.
when the trauma surgeon opened me i had a ball of long sutures, I guess I was a medical students first project even though I paid cash . My GP said I need cadaver patch of skin - GROSS wow my GP had no clue. My GP couldn't understand why i needed so much pain meds. I'm so tired of saying it take me 4 pills to every one of a normals persons intake. I was actually reprimanded on the phone by my GP for taking so many pain meds that she prescribed. Again tired of saying go back and look at ur notes . she tried to put me on the patch and i said NO. I dont deserve to be in pain though. has anyone else has issues with DRS about absorbing pain meds, because ive really had enough. I sound needy but very few things absorb.
and go see a bariatric/trauma surgeon (not easy to find)
you see regular surgeon's don't understand that when we take a pill we don't absorb it
I am so tired of explaining that to every Dr. is there a PDR in the works for gastric bypass patients yet?
by the time I met this great Doctor who eventually saved my life i was still infected, when he said stop taking all the antibiotic and come back in a week. by the 5th day i was septic a gas producing gangrene . Id never let the original plastic surgeon touch me again He did what he had to do its June, july ill go back for scar revision.. good luck to you :)
I had mine packed with damp gauze (wet to dry) twice daily until they backfilled with clean flesh (6 weeks). DH did it- thank goodness, it's in a place I couldn't reach, plus it was too gross for me. I did get an opportunistic infection (pseudomonas) unrelated to the initial infection and switched to dakin's solution until the holes were too small. I do have one tiny opening left that is just getting a swab of betadine and a bandaid. This issue has taken about 7 weeks to resolve. It was a result of infection, and not a popped stitch. I am currently 15 weeks out.
I have been seeing my PS once every week or two weeks. This time, he is having me see him in three weeks, and we believe that this issue will be completely resolved by then. In your situation, I would make the drive and have him look at himself, or see another surgeon closer by. When my holes (3) opened up, I had just been in the hospital for cellulitis (yet another unrelated infection, but still) and I went right to the ER.
