Well, I have decided...and could not be more excited!

So, some of you may remember that I posted about my sadness about possible hypertrophic/keloid scars in getting plastic surgery. I went to three plastic surgery consults, and it was a little like that Goldielocks tale:

The first surgeon was waaaay too positive - he thought the fears and risks were TOO LITTLE. He was trying hard to sell me on the maximum number of procedures as quickly as possible.

The second surgeon was waaaay too negative - he thought for sure I would have keloids everywhere and he thought the risks were TOO HIGH and then didn't even call me back when I asked for a quote.

The third surgeon was JUST RIGHT...she was realistic about the risks, while suggesting a plan to manage them and staging the surgery appropriately. Right in between the two. AND...I am scheduled for a BL/BA and a TT (non Fleur-de-Lis, to minimize the visible scarring). I am SO excited!!!

If the healing goes well, then I will schedule a brachio and thigh lift..but, the BL/BA and TT by far are my main concern. Even if I do get keloids, I want this. I already have a hideous keloid on my stomach from a gall bladder surgery staples gone bad, so this would be way below, which I've never had scars in. Appendix - no keloids! And I made the decision with the worst possible outcome in mind.

Best of luck, Norma --- I am glad that you found a surgeon you are comfortable with.

I had brachio and BA in November and am very pleased.

Can't wait to read your posts when you get 'to the other side' ---

Hey..

Congratulations on your decision..sounds like you have made the right choice...

From my experience with surgeries, (and I've had plenty) I know that the more FAT I carried in the surgery sites, the more the scaring was...I had back surgery and my scar is noticeable, but you have to really be looking for it..(It's 13 inches long..)The scars on my stomach are a different story..(this is where I have Always carried my FAT) the scars are kinda purple and one is very raised...

I don't know what the outcome will be with my consult and then surgery, but even if I have the keloid scaring, I can live with it..as long as I have my flat smooth tummy I have ALWAYS hoped for..

I hope ALL goes as you are hoping for...!!

You know, my LBL scar is very, very dark red at 4.5 months out, but surprisingly, the incisions under my breasts are almost gone.  The areola incisions are still red but not near as bad as the LBL.  I still want my arms done, but am very scared of how I will scar.  I don't have any keloids though, just reddish purple.  Actually my surgeon told me that on a scale of 1 to 10 for scar ugliness, mine are about a 3.  They look worse than that to me, but he says no they are pretty normal.  I can still see my VSG scars, but they are lightening up finally after 2 years.  I do believe they will be white eventually.  At least they are flat.  Good luck to you...it's very exciting to get that nasty skin removed.

Good to know! Thank you! I hope I have similar results, the breasts are my biggest concern.

Either way though, the idea that I could wear a two-piece someday even if I had keloids is SO beyond exciting to me!
