Realistic Expectations

Hello everyone,  I am scheduled for a torsoplasty, brachioplasty,Excision of excess skin/axilla, buttock enhancement and hernia repair on 3/21/11.  I have a cruise scheduled for 5/26/11.

I don't plan to do anything on the cruise but RELAX.

Am I being unrealistic to expect to feel good 2 months after surgery?

Anyone experience with recovering from all or any of these surgeries, please advise me of your experience.

Thanks!!

See my sig for what I had done already.

It's 7 1/2 weeks out, and I'm finally feeling awake enough (for me, it wasn't about pain, just fatigue) to stop taking an afternoon nap.

If your cruise plans are to sleep in the sun and play, you should be great!

Thank you for sharing your experience Rebecca.  Congratulations on your weight loss and courage to go forward with the PS that will complete your goal.  I am planning on going forward wt my surgery and looking forward to the results.  Looks like we are having about the same things done.  I am 59, so my skin is really thin and I don't heal like I used to but I am really excited about the results.  I am already upping my protein and working out more so I will be really physically fit for the surgery.  Good luck with continuing success!!

Everyone heals differently but I would say barring any complications you should be fine. I was back to working out w/o restrictions when I was that far out from both rounds (round 1 - lbl & brachio, round 2 - MTL & BA/BL)

Thanks for your input Sonnie.  I know everyone is different, but knowing this timetable worked for you will be very helpful.  Good luck with your final results, hope you are glad you hadthe surgery.

I went on vacation 6 weeks post op from LBL/hernia repair and arm lift with permission of my surgeon. The only instruction I was given was to make certain to get up and walk around during the airplane flight. I had no problems sight seeing ... but I was walking and moving about a lot slower than normal.

B**** the airport I told them I was wearing compression garments on my arms and abdomen. Both coming and returning the screeners gave me a very gentle pat down instead of having me go in front of the scanner. I also needed DH to lift my suitcase.

This surgery is very extensive and aggressive - you can't always predict how well you will feel. What if you have complications - can you postpone your cruise? I didn't make my plans until I was 4 weeks post op and knew I could physically handle it.

Thanks Skylar,  I have trip insurance but hope I won't have to use it.  Hope you are happy with your results. I am excited about my surgery, well, excited about the results but not about paying for it or the pain!!  It definitely helps to hear about the time frame others are experiencing.  Much luck with your continued healing and final results!

I felt mostly ok, most of the time at 8 weeks post-op.  I still know I had surgery but I can move without thinking about it every moment.   Without any complications, your cruise should be ok.

Thanks, I'm hoping I feel good enough to enjoy "just relaxing" by then.  Thanks for responding.
