X-post: Feeling overwhelmed with drugs post plastics along with other daily meds
So as many of you know I am having my tummy tuck tomorrow. I have been given Percocet (Oxycodone) and Atasol 30 also known as Tylenol 3. I know NEVER to take them at the same time and will use responsibly.
Since I have never taken anything like this before I'm concerned about possible interactions with my other stuff.
First thing in the morning at the same time on advice of the pharmacist:
Synthroid .075 mg
Paxil 20 mg
Pantoloc 40 mg
With breakfast at least 30 minutes after the above:
Diclofenac - for TMJ
Tricyclen (birth control pill)
Supper:
Diclofenac
Magnesium Oxide - moving it here to make it easier on hubby who is going to be my nurse :)
For those in the know, does anything scream DANGER! I will be asking at the hospital tomorrow and bringing a list of all my meds with me but I like to get feedback from those with my kind of guts! I do know I should never take Ibuprofen at the same time as the anti-inflammatory Diclofenac as doing so could cause severe stomach bleeding.
Thanks,
Mickie

D E F I N A T E L Y add COLACE or SENEKOT. 1 is a stool softener and the other helps you go. !!
Anesthesia slows down your system and percocet and codiene are super constipating drugs. All that added with your new abs make it impossible to "MAKE"!!! or cough or sneeez or get up off the toilet or squeeze. GET IT NOW!!!!

Absolutely listen to 3grlsmom about the colace and senokot! I don't know enough about your other meds to advise on interactions, but DO keep things "moving"!
Best of luck tomorrow!
Best of luck tomorrow!

Taking those drugs are not problematic- only concern would be that percocet (acetaminoophen) and the diclofenac (NSAID) can be tough on the kidneys; but since you won't be on the percocet for a long time I wouldn't be concerned. paxil can decrease the efficacy of tylenol 3 so i wouldnt take them together.
Also the magnesium should always be taken at least 4 hrs apart from the synthyroid, which you're already doing so you're good to go. The pantoloc helps protect from GI bleeding from the NSAIDs; plus the stress of surgery on the body puts everyone at an increased risk for ulcers so be sure to always take it.
And like the others said STOOL SOFTENERS; the mag will help move things along, but between the anesthesia and a week or so on narcotic pain meds and limited mobility- everything will really slow down. If it were me I'd be more aggressive. Since RNY I have struggled a bit with constipation so I might have gone overboard- but post BL/Brachio I took colace 1x/day for about a week pre-op and post op i took it several times/day as well as adding a capful of miralax to my protein shakes- I had no issues going to the bathroom thank god.
Good Luck tomorrow!!!
