Here is why it's important to see a couple of plastic surgeons, they should all specialize in massive weight loss patients and you need to ask lots of questions. The first surgeon I saw didn't see any need for an anchor cut, just the LBL. The second surgeon said I needed anchor cut and then in further discussion it came out that he doesn't do the LBL (one of the large WLS groups sends all their patients to this Dr. and that's where I got his name). The third surgeon, who performed my LBL told me that I was borderline and he would have to make the decision during surgery after my hernia repair. If I had gone with the second surgeon who made an effort to talk me out of the LBL, I would have had an anchor cut and then later the back end of the LBL - ending up with more scars than just the LBL.
