Pregnancy after tummy tuck?

A few issues here.

First, you can safely become pregnant and carry the baby after tummy tuck. I base this statement on studies done in women who had TRAM reast reconstructions at MD Anderson and later became prgenant.  All did well and a TRAM is a way bigger deal than a tumy tuck.

Doing a TT for someone considering pregnancy, at least in my practice, is different.  I leave more room for the muscles to expand and this changes the way I do the abdominal muscle repair.

Patients who are good candidates for TT prior to pregnancy are usually very troubled by their excess skin. Some refuse to date, others have health issues from excess skin, etc.  Most are not planning on pregnancy in the near future.

The appearance of your tummy after pregnancy  depends on the amount of excess skin you have before surgery...most of my patients who have later become pregnant lost some of the result but non returned to ther pre-tummy tuck appearance.
