I would love to see responses on this too!
I'm looking at having mine done at a higher weight --and would be very happy with that, but have a hard time getting an idea of what I would look like. I'm 5'4 and carry most of my excess weight in my middle so even now, clothes would fit so much better if my stomach was reduced.

I'm 5' 9" and weighed 210 pounds when I had extended abdominoplasty and BR/BL a little over two weeks ago. I'm a large-framed gal who is 54 years old - I had gastric bypass 5 1/2 years ago and lost a total of 140 pounds. I've been bouncing around within 5-10 pounds for a few years and knew that I probably wasn't going to lose much more (if any) weight so I decided to go for it. When I was obese, I carried most of my weight in my belly, plus in 1982 I had twins who weighed almost 15 pounds together. Even after losing weight, I still had quite a large gut (with a huge protruding "muffin top") so my PS (Dr. Mitchel Krieger in Fairfax, VA) did an anchor cut in order to achieve the best results. He removed 10 pounds and even with all of the swelling, I am absolutely thrilled with the outcome!

Really good topic! I'm 5'8" and 198 lbs. as of this month (still losing veryyyy slowly at almost two years post-op). I've lost 193 lbs. and am very thrilled with my weight loss. The PS I consulted about 20 lbs. ago advised me to go as low as I can, scale-wise, and to also become as fit and toned as possible. The procedure is long and grueling and it takes two surgeons five-six hours to stitch us back up. The recovery sounds painful, long and harsh, with reports of nerve pain lingering at a year post-op.
I'm going for second and third opinions even though an exended abdom. was immediately approved by my BC/BS of FL. This is a serious and heavy decision for me as it is truly elective surgery, and I'm a baby about pain. I also cannot stomach anesthesia or narcotic painkillers. I wish I were braver about this as I'm really wanting the excess gone for both ease of movement and how great I'll look and fit into my now-size 16 clothes.
Like you and the other posters, I'm (usually) satisfied with how I carry my current weight and don't want to become bony and gaunt, esp. since I'll be 48 years old in May. The PS's advice about getting as small and muscular as possible sounds so "not me"...but I'll keep trying. Wonder what my weight will be after the PS...the surgeon wouldn't venture an estimate...
Thanks for posting; I'll be carefully following responses and related postings as I (hopefully) gather the courage to go forward...Happy Friday!
