Just starting out!

HI!!!  My name is Shawn, I had my RNY a little over 4 years ago.  I am just starting my PS journey now.  I have lost 139 pounds and am only 1 pound from my goal weight.  I have kept my weight off for 3 years now and I am ready to continue my journey now!!!!

I am pretty sure I know the doctor I want to go through and I contacted them today.  Found out that they do accept my insurance and all I have to do is get some documentation from my PCP that all my back problems are due to the excess skin I have, and the TT may just be covered.  I know that getting my boobs done won't be covered because they are so small now and I just want them enhanced... LOL... But that will be done later.

So I see the nurse at my PCP's office in 2 weeks to get my annual labs done, then the following week I will meet with my PCP to go over all my results and then I will talk to them about writing a letter for the PS to get covered!!!  I sure do hope that this all works and goes through smoothly.  If it does I will be hoping to get it done either this spring or this summer, otherwise I will have to wait until next year when we get our taxes back (this years is ALREADY taken :-(  kind of a bummer).

I am hopeful to get lots of information from this board and learn what to do and what not to do to get things rolling and get me through the whole process.

Don't really think I am comfortable going to Mexico for surgery.  I know many people do and that is all fine for them, but that is just not for me.

I know 9 years ago I had a tubal reversal so that I could have more kids, and a lot of people go to Mexico for that too.  But I stayed here in the states.  I did travel from Michigan to N. Carolina for that surgery though.  Found a really good doctor that was half the price of what it cost here in Michigan, and it was a great success (ended up with 2 more kiddos)....

Thanks for the tip though... I may keep it in mind, but like I said, I really don't think that avenue if right for me.

My panni caused a lot of back pain, but my insurance clearly stated that "backpain" is NOT an approved reason for surgery coverage.  Only documented rashes and a panni that extends below the pubis. 

I paid cash and went with Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico.  I've been very pleased and am returning in a few months for the rest of my surgeries!
