Tummy tuck questions???

I had a tummy tuck on 2/14/11 and have a couple of questions. How long did it take for the swelling to go away? One side of my abdomen looks pretty good but the other side I have a buldge...is this normal? Is it possible that it is still swollen just on one side? And the skin above my belly button is still loose. I was expecting all the loose skin to be gone??? At this point I'm not too happy with the results but it has only been 2 weeks, am I expecting too much?

Yes you are expecting too much for being only 2 weeks out.   Your TT will continue to change for up to a year.   Things might be nice and flat for a while then out of the blue you will swell again and need to use compression again to keep it down.

Just focus now on the MAJOR CHANGE that your body has made.   Look at what is gone for good.   You will NEVER be perfect after being obese.   BUT you can be greatly changed and improved by plastics.  Wrap your head around that.

i concur with levitown's reply. i had a great surgeon but i'm still fairly lop-sided. my chest/breast are about 1/3 down from where God put them. i know that ain't what you want to hear but it is true. i would not trade any of it (wls/plastics) but the truth is i'll never be shirtless at the beach.

Did you have the vertical incision done also?  I think it's called an anchor cut.   Not sure what the medical term is.  My sugeron really discourages not having both  that might be why your seeing loose skin above your belly button.  My surgeon prepared me for some swelling for up to a year.  Most of my was gone or down significantly by 4 months.  I did not notice uneven swelling.  I was super tight and am still very tight a year and a half out.  I wore a compression garment for months after sugery.  I still wear a fleexee/spanx most days, it's just plain comfortable wearing one.   My surgeon told me to not judge the results until at least a year out.  I am very happy with my results.  Talk to your surgeon on one of your pre op appointments and voice your concerns.  At 2 weeks you are most definitely still swollen.  You need to give it more time.  Goodl luck!

Hi There,
It is very normal to be swollen at this point. I had mine on June 10, 2010 and I'm still a little swollen and very numb. It takes time but it varies with people.
Just take it slowly and take care of it.
