Questions about LBL

Hi everyone my name is Russ. I've been lurking for awhile and have already learned alot -- thanks! I've lost 165 #'s in the last year with diet changes and exercise, now I'm starting the plastic surgery idea stage. I will need a LBL, brachioplasty, thigh lift, and maybe male breast reduction. I often go to Canada fishing with my family and I'm wondering if 12 weeks prior to this trip would be enough recovery time. 12 hr drive in truck and then cruising and fishing in a boat 10-12 hrs a day. I'm concerned about pain and swelling making the trip a living hell. I also drive for fedex and wonder how long til I'd be able to get back to delivering? I know I can ask a Doc but 1st hand knowledge is best in my opinion. Thanks for your knowledge and advice.

Hi Russ.  I went bay fishing 12 weeks after my lbl last year.  I did fine.  Not sure I could have handled deep sea fishing though.  Not sure I could have handled it before surgery either though, ha!  Seriously, I think you'll do fine on the vacation.  The job sends up some red flags though.  There's a weight restriction (mine was 10 pounds) for six weeks after surgery, adding 5 lbs every two weeks thereafter.  I'm finding surgeons are different in their instructions on this, but this is close to the norm I think.  I'm 11 weeks out from my thigh lift and I carried a box of clothes out to the car to drop off at the donate site and the next day I noticed an open place along my scar line; so back to week one instructions to get it to close and heal, but a reminder to be careful about what I lift.  By the way, a 12 pack of soda is 10 lbs.

Hey Russ.    I think 3 months would be plenty of time for you to enjoy your vacation.   Hell I'm only 2 weeks post LBL w/huge hernia repair, Thigh lift, Arm lift ... and 10 days post op of UBL and Male breast reduction.  

Oddly enough I also work for FedEx but have an office job.  I'm going back to work on Tuesday.   I'm traveling home tomorrow from my surgery here in Monterrey Mexico with Dr. Sauceda and have been feeling amazing!

Also FYI ... I started a male plastics after WLS ... Hi,
I had tummy tuck, thigh lift  and butt lift on Nov 25, 2010 and then turned around on the 27th and had my breasts lifted and implants, my arms clipped, and a complete face lift.  I then left the hospital and stayed in an apartment in Amman, Jordan where I had the surgery until Dec 20th and got on a plane and flew back to the states for Christmas.  That plane ride was about 21 hours or so and I did fine.  I posted a while back and caught hell from alot of people calling me a liar and all kinds of things nasty but I did it  and I am doing great.  I am still taking it easy and babying myself but for the most part back to normal.  Have a good one!  Don't worry!
