Plastic Surgery in Mexico

My name is Tia.  In February of 2008, I decided to have Gastric Bypass surgery, after many years of failed diets.  My surgery was a wonderful success.  I have gotten rid of 135 pounds (I don't say lost, because I don't ever want to find it again).

My husband, who also had Gastric Bypass Surgery the same day as me, is a complete research-aholic.  He came across a posting on Obesity Help.com that talked about a clinic in Tijuana, Mexico called Cosmed.  The doctor's name most mentioned was Dr. Quiroz.   Let me tell you about my plastic surgery experience.

I called the clinic's San Diego number and spoke with Joyce.  Joyce was...amazing.  She was so patient with all my questions, whether they were financial or surgical.  I must have called or e-mailed her a dozen times before my surgery date of December 13, 2011 and not once was I met with any negativity for my constant questions.  She arranged for Carla drive me to and from the airport.  She arranged for my after care location as well, where I would be staying for my week of recovery.  Irene (after care lady) drove me to Cosmed for my surgery date, to pick me up after surgery and took me to all the follow up appointments.  Joyce also arranged for Dr. Quiroz to call me for a phone consultation prior to surgery, just to help answer more medical questions.

Now onto Dr. Quiroz.  Wow!  How to start this.  First off, let me say that Dr. Quiroz is a compassionate, humorous (not at the patient's expense), gifted surgeon.

The day of my surgery I was met by the office staff with genuine smiles and friendliness.  They took me back into the examination room and had me put on a gown.  Dr. Quiroz came in almost immediately after I'd changed, no waiting in the exam room for 30 minutes here.
He talked to me about what I wanted and told me what he could do to give me the body I've desired for so many years.  Next he took me into their photo room.  It was nicely equipped and completely private.  You won't be standing nude in front of a bunch of people.  It was just Dr Q and me.  He took about 10-12 pictures, then began drawing on me to give me an idea of what will be removed, what will be lifted and what will be "enhanced."  I have never been one to stand nude in front of men and not feel embarrassment or shame, but never once did I feel uncomfortable in Dr. Quiroz's care.   Right after that, one of his nurses took me to the pre-op area and I met with the Anesthesiologist and was taken into the operating room where I was prepped.

I had a lower body lift, breast lift and augmentation and a buttocks fat transfer.  My surgery started at 11:00am and finished around 7:15pm.  I do not remember anything from about 10:15 on the 13th until I woke up around 8:00am on the 14th.  I must say, I loved the 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep.  I realize I was still being given heavy pain medications, but I woke up feeling great.  Within a few minutes of waking, Dr. Quiroz came in and told me how everything went.  I asked questions and he answered them straight forward and with kindness.   When I asked if my family had been contacted in Washington, one of his staff members said they couldn't reach anyone but left a voice mail message.  Dr. Quiroz asked if I wanted to call them and I was elated with that opportunity.  I called my family so they could hear I was ok.

Within a couple of hours of waking, Irene picked me up to take me back to her house which I would be calling home for the next week.  Dr. Quiroz called every day to ask how I was doing.  He was also very compassionate on my follow up care.  Not touching too hard or making me contort my body into positions that caused pain.

Once I returned home to Washington, he called to check on me a couple times a week.  I swear... he must have had my phone number memorized.  It was so reassuring to know that I wasn't alone during the most difficult portion of my recovery period.  If I had a concern, he asked me to e-mail him a picture and he would immediately respond with his advice.  I never felt like once he was done cutting on me, his responsibility for my care was done.

It's now 6 weeks since my surgery date and he called me yesterday.  I plan on having my second and hopefully final surgery sometime later this year.  It will be an upper body lift, arm lift and upper thigh lift.  I don't have any doubts it will turn out wonderful.

In a nutshell, Dr. Quiroz and his staff are fantastic, magnificent, amazing and I wouldn't go to anyone else for these life changing surgeries.

Hi Susan,

To clear up a misunderstanding...I had Gastric Bypass Surgery in 2008 that was done in the US.  I had the plastic surgery done by Dr. Quiroz on December 13, 2010.

I won't be posting any pictures yet, as it's only been 6 weeks since surgery and I would like to be a little more healed before I share any skin pictures.

I do not work for Cosmed.  I live 60 miles north of Seattle, in Washington state.

Thanks,
Tia

Somebody from psjourneys.com accused cosmed's office of planting fake posters too so that is what I was thinking when I read her post as well.

Somebody from psjourneys.com accused cosmed of planting fake posters before so I was thinking the same thing.

I'll second Dr Sauceda!  He's an artist.  I'm very happy with my work and will be posting more pics tomorrow.  Still have drains so that makes them a bit messy!  But the stitches from my eyes come out tomorrow.

Haven't done much today.  Played with the puppies, unloaded some of my bags.   Still have lots of bruising but it's getting better, under the eyes is almost gone, but the cheeks and neck are still way pretty if you like purple!

I'll post when I put up some new pics.  I was hoping the last drain would come out in a day or so.

And you singed up JUST to sing the praises of dr Q.

Obvious quiroz shill. There have been a few lately, and the fact that he has to do this, speaks more clearly of his ****ty work than the ugly pictures that have been posted of it.

I too just had surgery with Cosmed and Dr. Quiroz. What a blessing they are.  Could not have asked for a better experience.  I would recommend them without reservationand I cannot say enough good about them.
