Would working my abs help in recovery from a TT?  I am hoping to have surgery in the spring time.

According to my surgeon - absolutely! Also working your legs so that you can "leverage up" using more legs than ab pressure early out.

So far, it's seemed to help me!

Welcome over here - I've missed your humor!

Yes, I worked out very hard prior to my surgeries and my recoveries were very easy and back to normal realtively quickly.

I've been doing pilates for the past two years.  I had my TT last February and had no problems at all.  Alot of people post about not being able to stand up straight for awhile - I was standing straight right after the surgery.  The more you can strengthen your core the better.  Good luck
