I am 18 days out. For teh first 1.5 weeks I took the pain meds like religion. I took them every 4 hours and also took the motrin every 8. I set my phone alarm to wake me up even. If they make you sick take them with food.   After that time I took just motrin for a few days and pain meds as needed, now I only take a pain pill if I need it.  Everyone is different but after a week and a half you will feel better as far as incision pain, as long as you do not overextend yourself. I just walked the mall for 45 min and am in pain now!!

Try, some other meds.  I wasn't in real pain until the facelift.  The body work was mostly uncomfortable.  Of course the morphine for the first couple of days helped easy the pain.  Don't over do, that's the biggest hint.    Pain & sleeping pill and I'm off for a long night's sleep.  Good luck!

I would ask your doctor for a different pain med.  My Dr. first gave me percocet however I can't sleep when I take that; so he gave me vidadin and that didn't help the pain, so then we went to Diludid so there are other options.  I can't imagine being on Motrin just  a few days later!

I was on pain meds for a week and also woke myself up during the night to take them.

I took liquid Loritab and it worked like a charm.  Didn't bother my tummy at all.

Hope you're feeling better.  Even after a year out my muscles can tighten up if I sit too long and I find myself holding them when i stand up....

Hi,

Im 4 days out from TT now. I had a check up today. Got the staples out. OUCH!!! Drains have to stay til next Monday. I do feel much better now. One took Vikes for 24 hours then switched to motrin. That seems to work ok.

I'm glad things are improving for you!  Figuring out the pain meds your body wants seems to be the trick!

Lori, why do you have staples?

It gets better, every day that passes, as you heal you slowly feel more energetic and have less pain.

I stopped my pain meds on the second day post op - couldn't stand the side effects and I could tolerate the pain - sometimes, such as coughing etc. the hernia repair/muscles would really be painful but that pain passed as I lay still and allowed my body to relax. We all react to pain differently.

Hi, I'm almost 3 weeks post surgery for the extended abdominoplasty (10 lbs of tissue removed), and lipo.  I am pretty much pain free now, except sometimes where my muscles were tightened in my abdomen.  I am still very swollen, but am very happy with how things are going.  I haven't taken a lot of pain pills, I found as long as I was laying in my lazyboy not moving there wasn't much pain at all.  The one thing that bothered me last week is the "tightening" feeling I was having, it didn't hurt, just was very uncomfortable inside.

Just hang in there, each day is better:)  Just don't do any lifting, pushing, or pulling.  Take it easy for 6 weeks.
