I need Medicare procedure codes
I am sorry if this is a repeat of an earlier post, but I could not find anything using the search feature.
I had 3 different consults with the handful of plastic surgeons in my area who accept Medicare. After finding one I loved, I had a pre-op and op date set. Just yesterday I was pulled off the schedule by the surgeon b/c she says I do not meet Medicare criteria for panniculectomy and repair to my mons. After a lot of digging I discovered this office is INEPT at billing Medicare. Because I have everything BUT a history of skin problems, the surgeon doesn't think she will get paid. This after recieving a letter of surgical neccesity from my gyno after a rectocele repair, a compression injury, and concerns over recurrance of both and overall health. Plus a letter of medical support from my WL surgeon. They claim Medicare has not been helpful. However, I myself contacted them this morning and am staring at chapter and verse from the LCD for my state. I am guessing they never contacted the WA state Medicare administrators. Nor were they willing to talk to anyone else in the medical community on my behalf.
I am down to my needing to provide them concrete evidence and codes to get things back on track. I live in WA state. Can anyone help in time for me to still have surgery in February? Not being able to do this means going with my second choice and possibly having to put it off until summer. I don't think this should happen just b/c someone's practice doesn't know how to get things done.
