Omentum/Belly Fat and Lipo

I had GB 8 yrs ago and LBL/BL 3 years ago.  I am pleased with the results.  I'm between 130-135 lbs and 5'5" tall.  But, my problem is I don't like the fact that my body looks like a little boy (straight as a board).  I've got no curvature to my waist.  In fact, I've got love handles and worst of all my belly protrudes starting around mid-day until bedtime.  The protrusion gets worse after eating food all day.  My waist is 32-33", hips 38", breast 34".

I want lipo to pull my waist in and give me a little curvature and I'm hoping the lipo can reduce my waist size.  I'm going to consult with Dr LaMonaco in Feb and probably consult another dr as well.  My question is has anyone out there gone in for a consult on abdominal liposuction and been told the problem isn't fat on top of the muscle; but underneath the stomach muscle?  If so, what did you do?  What did the DR recommend?

By the way, when I had my LBL, the plastic surgeon did NOT do liposuction in my abdominal region; just the tummy tuck part.  And, my stomach was really flat for about 6-9 months after surgery but the bulging began and it's lasted about 2 years now.

thanks for you help!

Hi Julie. A waist is a hard thing to create if you never had one. It has a lot to do with the width of your hips, length of your abdomen, and proportion of your hips to your rib cage.

Excess fat on top of the buttocks (hips and flanks) can give a "boxy" appearance, and when removed may give a curvier look.

Muscle laxity of the abdominal wall can also cause the same thing.

If you were an "apple" (vs. a "pear" ) shape before your weight loss, then you may have fat inside the abdomen that causes upper abdominal fullness. This is difficult to treat with any kind of surgery.

In your case, being initially flat after surgery then developing a bulge later could suggest separation of the msucle repair and recurrent laxity.

So as you can see "boyish" can be caused by many reasons.

Thanks, Dr L!  I will be in for a consult sometime in Feb.  We're in Alaska now but the movers are moving us to Houston this weekend.  So, I'll see you soon!!

Julie

BTW, I was never an "apple" shape.  I was always "pear" and when I had my LBL the dr in Ft Worth said I had a lot of laxity in the abdominal wall.  So, it would not surprise me if I have some type of separation of the muscle repair.
