There's no place like HOME!!! A little long but great!!
My mother Sinikka, and I made it back yesterday evening, and it's great to be back. especially, when you hear what happened at the last minute.... this is classic BARD!!
I was packing my big old ugly autumn yellow Samsonite suitcase ( so bad, I always have to used a strap because one slid latch is busted ) when, I used my new teeth to tear some packing tape to keep the darn thing closed. Because of my bad bite, I popped off one of my new front veneers!!
I am now about to cry, we are getting close to have Dr Sauceda's driver come pick us up to take us to the airport, and Dr. S is coming by first to take one last stitch on my eyelid.
I look at my watch and say ( with all the optimism someone like us has ever had ) It can happen!!!
I have to go to the front desk, since my attempt to contact Dr. Ramirez ( the dentist and Dr S' friend ) fails because of my lack of Spanish. The gal at the Hampton Inn switches into Wonder Woman and get through to the Dr and he is now on his on his way to pick me up to fix my tooth ( having to cancel a class ), at the same time Dr Sauceda, comes and as his driver loads up our suit cases, yanks out my lil' stitch and has the driver follow us to the university where the good Dr Ramirez teaches Dentistry. A collage who specializes in difficult areas fixes my tooth, the whole time my heart pumping and my eyes watching the clock. they get through, and we, through normal crazy Monterrey, Mexico traffic a city of now over 2.7 million, barely makes it to the airport. where American Airlines treats us like diplomats, since both of us need wheel chairs. Whew!!! The whole thing I've to say was just icing on the cake of a fantastic trip...none of that boring sit around and wait for us, LOL
After that, the flight was very fast, my friend picked us up at the airport and whisked us home bringing my English Bulldog Snickers to greet us, Got home, got unpacked, ate the best chicken pot pie in the world and finally sat in my recliner and just was happy that because of the wonderful people of Mexico, American Airlines and my friends everything worked out like a dream..... and I'll say it again in homage to Dorthy... There's No Place Like HOME!! (Thanks, Everyone!!) Bard

Wow! It seems like quite an adventurous day! :-) Thanks so much for your continuous posts. I am looking into PS and will be diong things this summer. I am nervous already as I just don't wuite know what to expect and the pain scares me, but I know it is what I need to do to finish this journey!
Glad things worked out so well!

First of all as far as pain, the Dr. will take care of that, I'm just taking Tylenol now, and could take something stronger. I just don't need to.
There is not a Dr. out there that want his patient to be in pain, a little sore sure, but not in pain.
I just, as long as I do as I am supposed to , rest and recuperate, I am fine. Starting to itch a little but that just means I'm healing.
Second, I would tell you to read, investigate, learn, question and then,... know, there is great strength in knowledge.
This is what this forum and the OH family is all about, We are here for you,

Thanks so much! I know that as summer approaches I will be asking more and more. I did get some recommended books and a website that I have been working on! Best wishes!
I may have had a few extra potholes along the way, but the journey has been good!
- RNY- Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery - Dr. Peters 8/09
- Medial Thigh lift & Brachioplasty - Dr. Macrea 7/2011
- LBL - Dr. Joseph Michaels (Sibley Memorial) 12/22/2011
- Upper Body Lift with Mastoplexy - Dr. Joseph Michaels 12/20/2012
I think I am using Dr. Macrea who does the information sessions for our support groups. I liked her during both presentations and I did my consult with her I liked her even more. The surgeries will be WIlmington Hospital which is not as big as the hospiital where my bypass was done, BUT it is a Center of Excellence.
Round 1 will be abdominoplasty, medial thigh lift, and outer thigh lipo (Round 1). This will be done the beginnig of July (I am a teacher so will have at least a month and 1/2 to do what I want/can do before worrying about my job!
Round 2 will be butt lift and outer thigh lift with some more lipo (contouring). If insurance pays for part of the abdominoplasty I will hopefully be adding my arms into this round. This will be done in December right before Christmas break so I will have about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks before returning to work. My principal is awesome and very understanding so if I need to take a break during the day he will work with me to get it done!
The only thing I don't know how I feel about are my breasts, but if I decide to do it it will be after I see the proportion to my lower body. RIght now, I am so bottom heavy. I am only 15 pounds to MY goal and well beyond what the surgeons goal seemed to be (we never set an exact number, but the goal was 75% of my excess). Anyway, I am still losing SLOWLY and according to the PS she really didn't think I would be able to lose much more on the lower 1/2 as I have most likely shrunk the fat cells, but they are just positioned on my hips. She said most of the other stuff I think as fat is really skin! :-)
It just seems like a lot of surgery to me. I think she is very reasonabley priced and I also like her office staff. There are 3 surgeons in the practice and all of them have done post WLS contouring, etc. so I feel good in that regards. I have not done a bunch of consults and don't feel like I need to, but going on here and people talking about going to 3, 4, 5 makes me think I am not doing something I should. I should also say that I had all kinds of issues with my bypass and ended up in teh hospital for a month and then had a feeding tube AND PICC line for 4 months there after. I have had like 7 surgeries from just the RNY, so this should be old hat!
