TT - Garment Question

I am 3 weeks out and I just started wearing the medical gament made by Veronique.  I was wondering how many hours do you wear this. My nurse told me 24/7 and I am finding this impossible. When I get home from a long day of work I just have to take this off.  I put the binder on but can tell this is not alot of support. I dont want to do anything to jeopordize my results after all the money and pain I have been through.  What are other Dr suggesting?

Thanks

I was 24/7 medical garment/girdle panties and compression binder!  My 6 week post-op appointment is today.  I hope to lose one . . .

I was 24/7 for the first two weeks; then daytime for another 4; then as desired by patient after that.

I too could not STAND the garments; they were the most difficult part of the process for me.

The first two weeks the binder was 23/7 (I could take it off an hour a day for showering and general cleansing). After that, it was "as tolerated," with a reminder that the more I wore it, the faster swelling would stay away.

Currently, I'm in a flexees-type lower body/high waist for about 15 hours per day.

I had LBL with hernia repair. I was told to wear my abdominal binder for two weeks and then I could switch to those spanx type boy short girdles - but I found the binder more comfortable so I've kept wearing that. I was told to wear it 24/7, except  for showers, for 6-8 weeks. At my 7th week appointment I was told I healed so quickly that I should wear the binder during the day when exercising/active but not at night. I do find it helps keeps the swelling down and when I go through the day without it I notice the difference of increased swelling.

To be honest, there is such variety between Drs. and no real double blinded peer reviewed gold standard research following large numbers of patients to make these recommendations truly evidence based. You can witness the effect here reading people's posts about how long they wore compression garments and some never even wore compression and still had good results. Did you discuss your level of discomfort with the nurse and specifically ask for help to adjust the standard recommendations to meet your needs? I hope you find the solution that's right for you.

I've been wearing my CG (fleexies brand from Kohls) during the day and my binder (the one from the hosp.) to bed.  I plan to do this for 8 weeks.

I wear my CG all the time except at night. At night I do not sleep ain anything. I have tried the spanx or just regular girdles and they just do not give me the support. i'm just 8 weeks out but i definetly agree with the swelling when i don't have mine on. It's kinda like a security blanket.

I wore medical compression 24/7 for 12 weeks.  That is what my Doc recommends and mine was so comfortable.  I really loved wearing it.  It was never too tight, even in the beginning.  When i finally ditched it I felt so weird without anything on, but it's been almost 3 weeks now since I took it off and I'm finally used to it and feel great!

I wore mine forever. Not because I had to but because I needed to because I was swelling every day. 6 weeks is what my dr recommended by I've always worn some type of shapewear since my surgery. I wore the flexees type and mine was never uncomfortable unless I was super swollen. Anything would have been uncomfortable then. I found if I didn't wear something I looked 4 months pregnant. Even at a year and a half out, I can swell for no particular reason once in a while.
