Thigh Lift.....

Today I woke up and was able to get ready on my own and move around fairly well. That's progress! I'm at the point I think where I am getting drastically better every day.

We will both return to normal, you longer than me! You had a TON of surgery and it's going to take awhile for your body to restore itself. Be patient....It has helped me to find something to occupy my mind. I've done a lot of Netflix watching, sewing up ripped dog toys, catching up with old friends on the phone and playing on the internet. I will keep up with you for sure!

Julie, Thanks for your input. Usually the first 3 weeks after any kind of surgery are the worse. That sure was true for me with my knee replacements and my lowerr body lift. I need to have this done but I don't look forward to it. Do you have drains? Are your feet also swollen? Hang in there. It has to get better right?

Hi Amanda and other on this thread,

I had lap RNy in 2005 and a lower body lift in 2007. I have a thigh lift consult the end of March. My question: Do you have any drains after this proceedure? That was my least favorite part of the lower body lift. I had 3 that needed to be cleaned for 2 weeks before they were removed.  My thigh lift will be pretty extensive as I lost 180 lbs and have much stretched skin in the upper thigh area. I am sure my pants size will be about 2 sizes smaller after the thigh lift. It's hard to find pants that fit. As my older brother said after I was complaining about my thighs after having the lower body lift: "Kind of like painting one room in the house isn't it?" Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My son is getting married July 3. The earliest I can get it done would be about mid May. I may wait until after the wedding as I sure want to be able to dance with my son!

It sounds like you and I are about the same. I lost just about the same amount of weight and had a TON of skin on my thighs. I have dropped at least one size since my surgery. I had 4 drains because my thigh lift was so extensive. They were a pain. It is my understanding that the drains vary by surgeon though. Some prefer not to use them with the thigh lift. You will be so happy you had it done. I'm finally getting to a point where I can see the results through the difficulties of healing. :)

My consult is  the end of March and I understand that the earliest I could have surgery is mid May. Wouild that give me enough time to be somewhat normal in time for my son's wedding on July 3? I really want to have it done  then but that will just be about 6 weeks before the wedding. How long were your drains in? How much swelling do you still have? Thanks for any input that you may provide.

I would also really like a thigh lift in the (hopefully) near future. I've have my arms done and LBL...the drains in my stomach for the LBL were probably the most painful part of the whole procedure, especially when the 2nd one was being removed. Did you have that awful burning sensation when they took out your thigh drains? I wanted to hit the ceiling when the drain came out my stomach!

Also, did your thighs require any lipo?
I'd also like to see your before/after pictures when they're ready :)

My drains were in for two weeks. The swelling is moderate in one leg but I have no swelling in the other and I'm at 5 weeks out right now. I have one incision in the groin that opened up two weeks ago and is having to be packed and dressed daily. Other than this complication I am walking around pretty good with just a slight amount of stiffness.

I think if you don't have any complications it is reasonable to expect to be back to normal before the wedding. You do have to consider what might happen as far as complications go.
