Recommended Books
Prior to RNY I read Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies and a caouple outher books and felt VERY prepared for things. Are there any books that are easy reads taht you would recommend for plastic surgery? (I am looking at abdominoplasty, thigh lipo, medial thigh lift. then butt and outer thigh light and arms.
I may have had a few extra potholes along the way, but the journey has been good!
- RNY- Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery - Dr. Peters 8/09
- Medial Thigh lift & Brachioplasty - Dr. Macrea 7/2011
- LBL - Dr. Joseph Michaels (Sibley Memorial) 12/22/2011
- Upper Body Lift with Mastoplexy - Dr. Joseph Michaels 12/20/2012

I read three books that specifically deal with plastics due to massive weight loss and mostly they deal with patients who had WLS.
The two books that I list first are by the same publisher and basically are identical except for patient pictures. The diagrams are the same and the text is the same except for a couple of paragraphs. I borrowed both from my local library - I definitely recommend reading one of them They are well organized and hit all the main points. Dr. LoMonaco kindly and thoughtfully answers posts here sometimes and he may have copies to sell or you can find them at amazon. I don't believe any of these doctors wrote these books, but they probably checked it for facts and provided pictures of their patients for the book.
Bariatric Plastic Surgery: A guide to cosmetic surgery after weight loss by Drs. McNemar, LoMonaco and Dr. Krieger.
Body Contouring Surgery After Weight Loss by Drs. Sebastian, Capella and Rubin.
This one is written by Dr. Hurwitz for patients- there are sections which are so clearly written by him in discussing techniques. It is definitely different than the two above and is worth while reading if you feel you need to read something else. While excellent, it is lacking some additional info that the first two books provide.
Total Body Lift , reshaping the breasts, chest, arms ..... etc by Dr. Hurwitz.
Hope this helps.
