Well I scheduled a consult on Monday with a Surgeon in the same hospital as my RNY surgeon.
I know he has preformed surgeries on bariatric patients.
I know Im in need of a breast lift. The gals are about half way down my tummy almost to my belly button and my areolas are the size of a small fist. I dont want to loos much cup size... is that possible?
Also I need a tummy tuck - I have never had a flat stomach in my entire life - even at 110lbs, I still had the kangaroo pouch, 3 teared stomach.. and this was prior to children. It just got worse after kids and weight gain.
My weight has been stable for the past 4-5 weeks... what can I expect from the consult?
thanks
Janessa

Different surgeons use different techniques for a breast lift. He should explain to you what technique he would be using. It's also possible to have the size of your areolas reduced in size. He should also be able to see how much actual breast tissue you have left and let you know if it's enough for you to have the desired cup size you are wanting. If you are mostly skin with little actual tissue left he might suggest an implant.

I would ask to see before & after pictures of his work. I would also ask about any revision work. If it is needed, what his policy is with fees or additional costs?

He should explain to you the difference in the different types of tummy tucks and how much skin will be removed and where you will see the results. If you have loose skin above the belly button and on your sides he may recommend an anchor cut.

He might also want to see you maintain your weight for longer than what you have. Many surgeons suggest that you keep your weight stable for 6 months or so before you start with your reconstructive procedures.

Just make sure you ask a lot of questions and make sure you have a clear understanding of what he suggests and how he performs each procedure. Also, make sure he understands what your expectations are. A clear line of communication is a must!

Thank you Renee! I had questions brewing in my mind, but I just couldnt put them into words. I really like the idea of asking about a revision if needed

I think I still have a lot of breast tissue - I've been a D-DD since 6th grade and when I feel them, they feel full, they're just... well very saggy

I do have excess fat & skin above the belly button

I know Im not ready to have PS yet, I just need the consult to wrap my brain around it, explore options and costs.

I had a consult today -- thought I just needed info like you.  My plastic surgeon (I've seen his work -- a friend had extensive work; very nice!) said I don't need to wait 'til I lose the last 30#.  He said in his experience I'm not going to get much flabbier w/ that addit'l loss nor am I going to get much firmer by waiting.  Maybe age is a factor w/ this (62 next month), but I was very excited that I could possible lose this panni and these bat wings and the thighs w/in a few months.  How cool will that be?

Another consult next week.
HW -- 255.8#;  WW/pre-op lost 22.6#; CW -- 152.2#; GW 140#; 103.6# GONE FOREVER!
