I was just approved for an extended pani... one of the things I have to decide is ... keep my belly button or have it removed.  What  is your opinion?

Thank for any suggestions.  My surgery is on Feb 8... OMG only a few weeks away!!

Also... did any of you pay for lipo to remove any extra fat that may not come off with the skin removal?

Again... thanks for your help!

Helen

Though a panni is going to be optional for me, I thought it would be neat to NOT have a belly button!

Sort of a "Brave New World" thing!

I am having my panniculectomy done by insurance in about a month and I asked, pleaded with PS to give me a belly button...I have a nice "innie" and no belly buttons to me looks like an ALIEN!

Careful of judgement calls.  I remember once *****ing about the smell of tuna in grade 3,  not more than a minute later a young friend opened up her lunch to have tuna, gosh I made her feel bad.
I guess that's the creature that most resembles an Alien... lol   I have none, and no big deal.  I've had too many abdominal surgeries and Dr S had doubts as to whether I would have enough blood flow to save it.   It was kinda weird the first time I looked, but really, never thought about it after that.   I don't figure I'm an 'alien', not by my world anyways.

@Bonnie...sorry, did not mean to insult you...it was not personal...but that is "MY" opinion...I have had numerous abdominal surgeries also, c-sections, RNY, gallbladder removal so your point may be true depending on the doc.....and I do looooove TUNA by the way!....but as I stated before and I state again...If a belly button would cause me extra out of pocket cost...one PS quoted me an extra $1,000-$1500....I would pay it cause without one looks foreign "to me"....like an "alien"

I can't imagine not having a belly button. Dr. LoMonaco did a very good job of moving mine.

Part of my tummy tuck was covered because he was also fixing a huge hernia. I think I had to pay for one  hour of anesthesia. I was in the hospital 3 days I think. I don't remember the dollar amount. If you watched the first season of Big Medicine you saw me - I'm the one with the huge butt - he did my tummy tuck in January 2007 and my buttlift a few months later. I'm in two episodes.

I'm on the side that feels it would be cool not to have one. Frankly I never show my BB so I don't think anyone except DH and my doctors would know that it is missing.

I didnt have any fat that needed lipo for my LBL.

You could always get a tattoo later when you have healed.
