Questions about Plastic Surgery

I am just curious about a couple of things.  I had my first consult with a local Plastic Surgeon but he didn't exactly have good news for me.  He doesn't deal with people who have had Gastric Bypass and he said I was too fat for a breast reduction.  Actually he told me they are so bad I would need what they call an amputation of the breasts.  Ouch!

I have had surgery about 2 years ago.  I had the Switch done at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  I am still losing weight but just wanted to see what could be done and when.  I have lost a total of 220 lbs now.

I have to admit that the excess skin is bothering me big time.  The sad thing is, I knew it would happen.  It isn't like this is a big shocker. *lol*

I know I am going to need a tummy tuck, arms tightened, boob job, and probably thighs as well.

My questions are:  Is it too early to be looking into finding a surgeon?  Does anyone know of a surgeon who does do post surgery plastic surgery in Eau Claire, WI?  Should I contact my surgeon at Mayo Clinic to see who he recommends?

I don't think it's too soon, but others may give you their opinion.

I had more weight to lose when I had my first phase done. I had my arms and my tummy done a year ago and have since lost another 70 lbs or more. I had those things done because of my mobility and chronic back pain issues. I had consulted with several surgeons and they were all very supportive about having things done early and in phases since my final goal will put me at a loss of over 300lbs.

I would be very weary of using a surgeon who has never done plastics on someone who has lost massive amounts of weight. Our skin is totally different than others and we need a surgeon who is skilled in the area of WLS patients or post WL. I think it would be a good idea to check with Mayo and see who they might recommend.

Remember whatever you have done prior to reaching your final goal will most likely need revising once you get to goal. IF you can't afford to have revisions done, it's probably best to wait until you're at goal since your result will be much better!

Just a thought!

Thank you so much for your input!

I think I will have to call Mayo to see what they have to say.  Right now I would just like my breasts done because that is causing me the most pain.  I already have a bad back and neck so this only makes it worse.  I would understand having to wait on the rest until I get closer to my goal.
