Had my DS 11 months ago & reached goal on 11/17/10.  Lost 106 lbs.  Now weigh 156 w/BMI of 23.7.  Plan to lose to 145 (BMI @ 22).  I'm 5'8".  However, problem is, I'm OLD.  Surgery at 63 & am now 64.  Need everything done: my girls are tube socks, etc.  Am I just too old to consider PS? Thanks for any & all responses.

I don't think you are old at all!  I think it depends on your overall health as to whether a surgeon will consider doing plastics on you.  If you can afford it and your body can handle the shock and recovery of surgery I say go for it!

You deserve to feel good about how you look whether you have two more years on this earth or 30.  I  just had my arms done 12 days ago and the feeling of confidence I have already is worth the money I paid.  Even if I died tomorrow I would be happy to have seen my arms look normal for the first time since I was a child.

My arms bothered me more than anything else which is why I had them done first so if I ran out of money or good health to survive more surgery at least I would have the biggest problem area dealt with.  I suggest you do the same and if you go for it, pick the parts that will make you feel the best about yourself.

All the best,
Mickie

Thanks for responding w/such a positive message, Mickie.  I've been following your posts on both forums w/a great deal of interest.  It's my boobs & inner thighs that bother me the most: the skin on my thighs is so thin that I'm concerned I might never heal!  Unlike the young guys on the DS forum, my diabetes never went away... something about dead islet cells.  I'm not sure if I would be considered healthy enough, but I sure feel better w/106 lbs. gone!

Can't wait to see photos of your new arms!

Last year when I was 58 I had three different surgeries.  First was an arm lift, then an extended TT, and in October a thigh and breast lift.  I turned 59 in November and in March I'm having some work on my eyes and a neck lift.  From the weight loss (140 lbs) and my new active lift style I'm in better shape than I have been since college.  You're only as old as you feel - and if I hadn't had all the reconstructive work I would feel ALOT older.  Good luck and Happy New Year.

ummm... very tempting.  The BL/A is what I want done first.  Kinda scared of Mexico right now, however.  Do you speak Spanish?

Lo siento, no, pero no problama habla es English en Monterrey.  I just got back from Puerto Vallarta, spent Christmas there.  If you go to Dr. Sauceda's site people talk about how safe it is.  I think you have to be smart and not go anywhere alone or after dark.  I got a quote here in New Mexico for 10,000.00 for bl/a and that was with a discount.  I believe in Mexico it is just under 5,000.

I don't know. You are obviously experienced with traveling in Mexico, but I haven't been there in 30+ years! Here's what Wikipedia has to say:

In 2005, Monterrey was ranked as the most secure city in Latin America
and Mexico, and one of the two most secure in 2006. However, since 2008 the city has experienced violence related to turf battles between warring drug cartels in Mexico. Right now Monterrey is suffering a huge security crisis. The year 2010 has been the most violent in history.

That is scary stuff..........I talked to my neighbor who is from Monterrey and just got back from there.  She painted a different pic. but she is a native so don't really know what to tell you.  Wish it was 2006 again!  Maybe talk to some of the people who just returned from Monterrey.  No matter what it still is scary stuff.  D........
