Massaging Scars

I am a little over a month and half post op on my BR.  My PS told me to massage my scars and I have.  Any one "over do it" on the massage? I have an ice pack under my breast fold because it's felt a bit irritated.  I do have another follow up with my PS tomorrow in the morning.

Any one experience something such as I have?

Blessings,

Nina

Sometimes when you start the massaging you'll actully press on the internal sutures that are still in the process of dissolving. I have even heard mine crunch a little or make like a small poppig sound. Some sutures just take a bit longer to dissolve. Maybe you are pressing too hard.  Some of them will even work their way through the skin and that can cause some irritation. Just take a break for a couple days and let it relax and then start back. Are you massaging with a lubricant or an oil of some type?

Hi Renee,

Thanks for the reply.  I massage it with Eucerin lotion as recommended by the PS.  I am just glad I get to see her tomorrow.  I had some redness on my right breast prior to Christmas so she put me on an anitbiotic, had a follow up with her on the 29th, and I was doing much better so tomorrow's follow up is in regard to the redness but I will address my current concern.

I haven't massage it in about 2 or 3 days.
