Back from surgeon's office and I have a small problem

I felt this hard, grape sized lump near my last drain site - I have a granuloma. It is my immune cells walling off a section of suture material - and it built up layers and layers of these immune cells ( you can read about it here at wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Granuloma). Anyhow it may dissolve on its own or else I'll have to have it excised when I have my next surgery. If it causes me any pain or problems they will remove it earlier in the office. I hope it doesn't mean that I will make more of these in my next phase surgery.

I've never heard of anyone else here having this but it is a possible complication from any surgery. It feels really hard and a little lumpy - not like a seroma.

Otherwise I'm doing well - Nov 5th I had LBL/hernia repair and arm lift. They keep telling me how much farther advanced my wounds are healing - I look like I'm more than three months out. The redness is leaving much of my scars and they are starting to blend into my skin. I was also told to stop all compression since I clearly didn't need it. So I gave it up cold turkey when I left the office and it's weird getting used to no compression - more of a mind game since I felt they were like security blankets keeping everything together.

Wow, that is weird.  I hope you don't make any more and they can take care of that one without any problems.  Congradulations on your rapid recovery!!! Keep up posted.

I know, it is weird - and I really hope I don't make any more too. I'm not looking forward to having it removed either. Thanks.

I hope it turns out to be either a nothing issue, or a very minor one.

Sounds like the rest of your recovery is doing well... I know what you mean about the compression- when I take off the binder, I feel like my guts are just going to fall out of my incision.

Hi Lisa, I put it in the minor annoying category since it's just under the skin and will be easy for them to remove - and I assume they will cut along the same line as my LBL so it will be hidden in that scar. I'm thankful that otherwise I'm doing so well.

LOL I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels weird taking off the binder. It's all in our head, nothing is going to fall out........hopefully.
