Cicacare Silicone gel sheets - update
Well, I bought a sheet of these scar sheets from our local pharmacy..a 5"x6" piece for $85. I can order them cheaper online, but I'm going to see if I can get them rebated from my insurance with this one. Probably not, but worth the try I think.
I started using them 3 days ago, and I think I can already see a difference. When I take them off to shower, the scars stay lighter - kinda silver coloured throughout my shower. In the past, when I went in the shower they went BRIGHT red, and stayed a lighter red after. No idea if this would stay long-term, as I put the sheets right back on after showering. I'm going to work on it for the entire 2-4 months and then see what happens - but it is pretty great that I can already see a slight change...helps me to stick with it!
I cut the sheet into small strips...so I only used 1/3 of the sheet. They do wash really well and stay sticky for the next time. Supposed to last up to a month - so maybe I won't need to buy another sheet...I didn't put it on the horizontal scar on my tummy - just the verticle one and both arms. I figured I don't care if the horizontal scar stays red - no one will ever see that!!
My dr. told me to use Micropore tape over the scar sheets - that works really well to keep them in place regardless of my activity. I could see it fall off otherwise or get all gooped up with lint from my clothes...

Those are good, and so are Mepiform strips. Pricey, but they are the only form of scar therapy I use.
