4 more "sleeps" till..........
Hi everyone.....after being stuck (yes - STUCK) in the Bahamas for 3 days and finally driving home from Florida (25 hrs.) to snowy NJ - the "fun" is over and again I am nervous. On MOnday I will have breast reduction. and an extended TT. I think I am prepared. You all have helped me so much just by reading daily about those of you that have done this recently. The pain is my main concern and I will have a pain ball and percoset ready. My surgery will be about 7 hrs. and is scheduled for 1pm. I am the 2nd of the day - should I worry ? This way I will be able to stay 1 night at the hospital and leave the next day. He wanted me to go home the same day. I will have a nurse for 12 hrs. day 1 and day 2.....is that toooo much - what should I plan for? I have an elec. stand- me- up recliner and a tall toilet seat. WHAT ELSE?? WHAT ELSE will make me feel less nervous and more prepared. The whole "travel" episode ruined my calm head and now I feel like I want to cancel.....
I really don't know exactly why I am writing you all - no real specific questions - but any helpful hints OR warm fuzzy stuff really helps me a lot ~
Thanks for being here.

LOL, you had a very memorable vacation - in time you'll look back on it fondly I hope. You're a survivor - and you'll survive this surgery too.
Make a list of all the chores you want to accomplish before surgery. I forgot to do simple things like laundry the day before because my mind just could focus on anything let along things that needed to be done.
Don't worry about pain - if you have it, you will take pain medication as soon as it builds to you can control it. I was surprised that I didn't have any after the first day and I didn't have that pain ball - didn't expect that and maybe you'll have that same experience.
Good luck

My TT is on tuesday at 12. I am staying overnight. I hear that the breast work (reductions and lifts) is more intensive (for the surgeon) than a tt, so that is where most of his time will probably be spent. my tt is only like 2 hours max.
Pain fades!! You will have meds to make it bearable. Your new body will be so worth it!! I am not scared of surgery. A surgeons job is to help his patient and he will do what he can to do just that!!!
Just think of how great you are going to feel about yourself!!

I think we've all felt those last minute jitters. They are perfectly normal, but don't let them sway you from your goal.
I was a little worried about the pain after my lbl and ba/bl, but it was so much less than my imagination built it up to be. I had the On-Que pain pump in the hospital and a Vicodin presciption for afterwards. I didn't need to finish out the prescription. Too me, it was more uncomfortableness and recovering from the almost 10 hrs. of anesthesia than it was pain. I felt more pain with my c-sections than I did with my plastics, and I think the reason for that is because with my c-sections I tried to go as long as I could without meds. Stay on top of the pain and use what your dr. gives you. I had a very quick recovery and was moving really well shortly after.
It sounds like you are well prepared. Do something fun right now- go shopping, or see a movie- just something to take your mind off of it. Worrying about it is not going to change anything and will only make you miserable.
All the best to you, and be sure and keep us posted on how you're doing!

I just want to wish you best of luck on your procedures. Who's your PS.
I'm having round 2 on Jan 6. I'm having legs done and a neck lift and Dr Capella is doing a scar revision also. I'm getting nervous too. But it will all be worth it. It looks like you have all there right supplies. Advise: TAKE the Pain meds! Don't let the pain get bad its hard to get it back under control...Oh yea stool softeners! Yuck, but Pain meds is very constipating!!!Take it!!!
Again best of luck!

DON'T CANCEL - I had the same surgeries you're having and came home the same day with the pain ball (which lasted 4 days) and percoset and really didn't have any pain at all - a little discomfort every once in awhile but no real pain. I agree completely with pauliegirl - make sure you start taking stool softeners several days before the surgery and take the pain medication. I put everything I thought I would need for a week or so down at counter height so I didn't have to reach for it. I also made sure I had my cell phone in my pocket when I got up to walk around as a just in case. Have someone pick you up with a car that's easy to get in and out of. Just concentrate on how great you're going to look and feel when it's over. I never had "perky" breasts in my lift - now every time I look down I smile!
Like some of the others, I didn't have alot of pain. Lots of soreness and discomfort, but no really instense pain. DO take those stool softeners/laxatives from day 1, I would say that is the most crucial thing you can do to help yourself! The other thing I found helpful is to have a shower chair.
Regardless of how good I was feeling, when I got into the shower with all that ho****er, and feeling relaxed, the shower chair was really necessary as a safety issue for me, took the worry out of showering alone.
Nervousness is normal, but it will be way easier than your mind is telling you right now.
Good luck, Godspeed.
Jean
