My name Is Annabelle and I had my gastric bypass surgery March 2008, and I am so happy that I have got my life back. I was 355 lbs and now 140 lbs, and have maintained this weight for a year now. I hate the skin. It gets in the way of so many different aspects of my life. The way clothes fit, my back, and intimacy.  I have Medical, and I am a single mom, and don’t even know how to begin the process. Are there any low income options? How did you start looking into reconstructive surgery? Any info will be nice. Thank you
NEVER GIVE UP .. 355 higest, 312 WLS day, 135 current, no longer OBEASE,, lost 220, and IM AT GOAL!!!!!!

Hello Annabelle,

There are Residency programs through out the US that offer a lower price than your average Plastic Surgeon's office.  There are wonderful, highly qualified plastic surgeons in other countries as well, and many of us have had great results.  Don't eliminate anything out of fear, do your research, talk to as many people as you can, and make the best decision for you.  You have already done so much!!!
As for starting out, first you have to decide which procedures you want to tackle first, then get yourself ready for those procedures by doing as much research about them as you can including talking to people who have already had them.  Then you can set up consults or send photos to the surgeons for an opinion and/or price quote.  After receiving your qoutes, you can evaluate, ask for references, and ask more questions.  In the end, it is YOUR money, YOUR body and YOUR decision.  The only other advice I would give is to make sure the Plastic Surgeon you are considering has some experise in plastics for WEIGHT LOSS patients.  There is a significant difference, I have been told by both surgeons and other patients, so please inquire if they have experience in this area.  Good luck to you, pm me if you want to talk further.

You might want to start by contacting your insurance company to find if they pay for any reconstructive surgery and if so what requirements do you have to meet.
