Arm lift consult and surgery on Wed (in Thailand): many questions!
Hi, all. I have my consult for my arm lift this Wednesday in Thailand. If I feel comfortable and the doctor and I are on the same page, my surgery will be the same day. I've researched arm lifts, etc., but it helps hearing the experiences of others.
I am here by myself and I'm a little nervous about wound care, etc. I will spend two nights in the hospital, but then I'm on my own-- presumably until my follow up appointment 10-14 days later (assuming there's no complications, right!?)
Can anyone tell me:
1. Any questions I should ask the surgeon
2. What I might feel like the first several days post-op. After 6-7 days, did you feel up to walking around (for example, if you were in Thailand, do you think you'd be up for some sightseeing?) Or, were you in bed for more than 7 days?
3. Pain levels after 12 days? I will be returning to my residence in South Korea (I'm an English teacher there) and getting pain medication will not be easy there. Should I ask the doctor to fill a prescription here in Thailand, or do you think taking OTC will be ok at that point?
Anything you can share with me that you think might be beneficial is much appreciated! Up to this point, I've been so excited about the surgery, but now that it's only a few days away, I'm getting pretty nervous!
Thanks for you help!

Hi Suzi,
I am 8 weeks out from an arm lift in Mexico. I was up and walking around the first day, and also had an extended tt with lipo. There was very little pain from the arm lift, it was uncomfortable, but not overly painful. I was getting pain meds for the tummy tuck, but after 48 hours, I never took so much as a Tylenol. We were walking 10 blocks to eat at restaurants and go shopping on day 3 (again nothing for pain) We were NEVER really in bed! We were sightseeing from day 3 on. My pain level on day 1 was 5, day 2 was 3 and day 3 and on 2 or less. I flew home on day 7, could have come home on day 3 but had drains for the tt. I was alone and it was no big deal. The only difficult part would be washing hair the first few days. Toileting, teeth brushing, etc, all fine. I fed myself and took complete care of myself after 48 hours, and could have sooner except for the tummy tuck.
I read alot before hand, but it was so much easier than I thought, and at 51 years old, and along with the tt, both myself and the friend along with me having tt and bl, we did great. I highly doubt you will need any pain meds after 3-4 days, and if so, OTC should be fine.
Good luck to you, you will do great!
pm me if you need anything
