4 days post op

Well.. I did it and I am home. Its been rough. I think it is all just very overwhelming with the scar and the drains and all.  My stomach is very swollen too so its hard to tell the results.. I keep saying " what have I done"?  I know this will pass as I have read many posts on this board that it does.  Thank god I have my mom here who has been a nurse for over 40 years. I could not imagine going thru this without her.

Question.. how often were people taking percocet?  It says 1 to 2 every 4 to 6 hours and I have been taking 2 every 4 hours. Is this abnormal?

Also, I still have not gone potty yet.. I am taking laxatives but still no luck. Any suggestions?

I started off taking 2 Percocet every 4 hours, after 5 days or so went down to 2 every 6 hours.

I'm 3 weeks out and just now past the "Buyer's Remorse" stage. 

I used Milk of Magnesia to counteract the Percocet effect. Tasted disgusting but it worked. 

With the percoset, jus****ch your total Tylenol (acetaminophen) dose for the day - needs to stay under 4000 mg / day.  I used that to dictate my dose interval and number of tablets as much as the pain.

I started out 2 every 4 hours for a couple of days and then was able to drop down to one every 6 hours.  At three weeks, I am still taking Vicodin 1-2 times a day and at night.  Going to try and stop the night doses this week.  It makes me wake-up every 4 hours.
