Went for my check up and still draining to much so have to leave them in and call Wed and tell them how much so maybe they can come out Thursday... If not have to stay in till next Tuesday.. I understand that I am draining to much fluid yet and the trouble if they take them out to early, but I sure was hoping...better safe than sorry...The Dr gave me a compresion girdle and it seems to be making me drain even more... lot of fluid   wow.  The girdle is great it has a slot in the crotch and also the flap has a velcro fastener for undoing to really go to the toliet... it is great and very supportive... it is good there is no real pain with them just a bother....I have been sleeping in bed after the first night in a recliner... the bed is so much better.  with the pillows under my legs and my head, it is working fine...still having issues with the tail bone...have not got out to get an fillow for that,  soon I hope, maybe Santa will bring me one....

Sorry about the drains!  I know how much I wanted them out too, soon.  I keep telling myself in a few weeks everything will be mostly back to normal.  Hard to remember right now . . .

The drains really are a PITA... I will, supposedly, get mine out 12/28.  My surgery date was 11/3.  I doubt almost 8 weeks is a record, but it's been a looooooong time.  My feeling, after initial disappointment, was that I'd rather have that fluid leave my body quickly than take the time to be reabsorbed. 20 ml isn't that bad in 12 hours, but multiply that by 3 drains and 5 days, and you have a ton of fluid in your incisional areas.

In the words of Shrek, "better out than in, I always say."

WRT the tailbone, I use two pillows, one under each butt cheek with a small space for the tailbone between them.  I also shift between cheeks to keep the pressure off.  The surgeon did suggest a boppy nursing pillow, but I'm doing fine with my arrangement.

Hope you're feeling better soon...

WOW that is a long time, I am one of those "better safe than sorry" so I will go along with the DR.
I just got one of those pillows with the cut out for the tail bone,  had a couple cheaper ones and this is firmer and feels great... glad I found this

Sorry to hear about the drains needing to stay.  Question:  if some are not putting out fluid while others are...will they take some of them out?

I go in for follow-up tomorrow and two of my five drains aren't even putting out a few ml per day.

I am sorry you had to keep your drains in too.  I know how you feel.  I went in for followup yesterday and had to leave my two drains in until Thursday.  I hope yours get to come out on Thursday, you will feel better but I am just taking the doctors advise and not pushing.  I figure, he knows what is best so I will be patient.  I don't want any more complications.

Good luck to you my friend.

Yes I know it is for the best, I do not want the fluid to build up and have to be drawn out with a needle so I will last as long as I have to, but I dont have to be happy about it...lol I have heard of some drains in for a lot longer,  so 2 to 2 1/2  weeks I can deal with..

I came home from the hospital with 6 drains (2 axilla from armlift and 4 from LBL). 3 came out 4 days post of, but the other three came out when they were ready - I was stuck with one for 5.5 weeks LOL. I was so used to being tethered to that drain that when it was pulled I felt kind of lost - I didn't have anything to measure, nothing to strip, didn't have to hid it in my underwear when I went out in public LOL. I hope your drains are removed soon - but yes, better safe than sorry.

thanks for responding, yes I know others have had them in for a  loooooong time, I have had so many surgeries in my life, not all with drains.  I have never been good with stitch removal or drains.   It is all in my head,  lol   It isn't that it is painful it is just that weird feeling...when I had my RNY  and also had a feeding tube with the drains... when they started to pull the out I held my breath,  they said do not do that it makes it worse, you know what   they were right...breath in and blow it out   is so much better... I just keep setting goals  if I miss this one, look forward to the next one...  take care
