SUPER nervous w/questions
Hey everyone....I am scheduled for breast reduction and lift AND extended TT with lipo on Jan. 3. I still have some quick questions and I know I will get some honest responses here.
1. Will I be able to travel by March 3. Doc says yes - what do YOU think?
2. When will I be able to drive 1/2 hr. comfortably?
3. Where can I go to see pix of before and afters? I see them when posted here as a "post" but are there more?
4. How many days are REALLY bad? 4 or 5 is what I see here.......true?
5. How to sleep at night - I am overworried?
Anyway.......thanks in advance - I am so very glad I found this site.

3grlsmom, I am 4-days out from an extended TT with Anchor cut and I can speak on this.
1.The first two days were really rough for me, lots of pain, couldn't move without assistance. Thought I was gonna die.
2. I feel I could drive now at 4 days but I have not tried it. Doctor says 2 weeks, so I think you should be fine.
3. I looked on You-tube, the Internet, and on OH, requested photos. I also looked at photos in doctor's offices.
4. The first two days were the worst. Day 3 was better and today is much better. I walked a couple blocks with my dogs, was able to wash myself, dress myself with pants and cooked my own breakfast. I have some pain but very manageable as long as you don't cough or sneeze. LOL.
5. Last night was the first time slept through the night. that was my day 3.
That is the best I can say with my limited experience . Good luck to you.

Hi,
19 days out from breast lift, abdominoplasty and hernia repair.
1 - I would think traveling 8 weeks out should be ok. I am traveling/flying at 6 weeks out for work.
2 - My 1.5 hour ride home from the hospital was fine. Are you talking about driving yourself? I have not driven myself anywhere yet.
3 - Ask your doctor to show you more of their before and after pics?
4 - The first 4 days were really bad, then I felt better each day. I think I've plateaued now and need to get out more to feel more normal. My surgeon said most people start to feel themselves at 3 weeks. I was able to shop at the supermarket for a bit on day 6. On day 13, once drains were out, I was able to walk the mall a bit, go out to eat and shop at the market. I walked 1/2 hour on day 15 and day 16.
5. I slept on the couch for two nights and in bed after that. It was mostly ok after day 5 but I still wake up in the middle of the night a bit uncomfortable around 3-4 am.
Hope that helps, Meg

Karen,
I had a breast lift and brachioplasty 4 weeks ago.
What has surprised me the most is the discomfort on my sides --- the surgeon took out quite a bit of 'bra bulge' under my arms -- (I am grateful to have that gone) and when I walk/exercise my arms tend to rub on that area.
Also, it makes it hard to sleep on my side ---
Not unbearable, but just not something I had expected.
It helps that I wear a long-sleeved 'undershirt' (cuddle unders, bought cheap at Ross) and then put the Comfort Bra over that --- so the bra does not sit directly on my incisions.
Best of luck ---

Important thing to remember is everyone is different. I had both of these procedures and would not have had a problem traveling several weeks later. I could drive two weeks later (as long as you'r e not taking pain medication). My advise don't be a hero - take the pain medication they give you. With my TT, I came home with a "pain ball" that for the first four days automatically released pain medication. Only problem I've ever had is constipation so start taking stool softeners a couple days before the surgery - it will take your life a few days after the surgery much easier. It wouldn't be normal not to worry. Take a few deep breaths, relax, and visualize how great you're going to look!
Hello,
Friend and I are now 8 weeks out. I had extended tt with lipo and an arm lift. Friend had extended tt with lipo and Breast Lift. We are 49 and 51. Neither of us had horrible pain. We were VERY sore and briefly uncomfortable, but no unbearable pain. IF you do have that kind of pain, get on top of it immediately, and stay on top of it, that's the key!
You will definitely be able to travel two months later......heck I could re shingle the roof by myself. :)
I was able to drive easily at one week, as for a 30 minute drive, probaly at 2 weeks. As for how many days, it's true everybody is different, but we are a couple of old broads, in good shape but still not spring chickens, and we were fine. MAKE yourself drink alot of fluids and MAKE yourself walk, walk walk! Take pain meds any time they are offered, you should NOT be in any pain. Also, and this is huge.........take some laxatives/stool softeners with you and take them daily. This is crucial, you'll thank your lucky stars later for this. As for sleeping, get a variety of pillows ready, and put them under knees or however you are comfortable.
I think you probably "over-worrying". You will do fine, have a positive attitude, ask for what you need, take pain pills early on, even if you think you don't need them. Honestly, it is not that bad. After 48 hours, I never took so much as a tylenol. I had 5 c-sections previously, so perhaps I was well prepared, but that was many years ago now, and we both did fine. On day 3, we walked probably 10 blocks to go out to eat and a wee bit of shopping.
You will do great! Good luck! Write if you need anything!

I had a breast reduction 10 years ago - before I had bypass. Pain was bad for one day, then got better each day. I went back to work after 1 week and was able to drive without much discomfort.
I had a TT with muscle tightening and thigh lift last week. Tummy tuck pain is no big deal. I was expecting the pain to be very bad for a few days but I have not taken anything for pain except Tylenol. The back pain from sitting and walking hunched over is bad but a warming pad does wonders. Now that I have begun to straighten up, the back pain is much improved and I expect it to be gone entirely in a few days.
If I only had a TT, I'd have felt good enough to go shopping at the mall yesterday, but the thighs are holding me back. My incision goes from groin to nearly mid-calf on both legs and the stitches are tight!
I'm still sleeping in a big chair. I may try the bed this weekend.
Good luck!
