had my circumferential abdominoplasty 12/9
so I had my LBL and I am doing pretty good here. They took off about 13 lbs and did some muscle tightening...amazingly not having much pain. I was to stay in hospital one night but had to stay a second night as my blood prssure droped considerably and there was a lot of concern as to why...I am moving around pretty good, getting in and out of bed. I do see the importance of the stool softner as that has been a slight issue...I have 4 JP drains and had a pain ball. the pain ball was something new to me. My husband removed it this morning, no problem there. My biggest problem is my tailbone. Does any one out there have this problem? Since I have lost 150 lbs I have no padding left there and my tailbone seems to protrude out and it hurst so bad when I sit or lay to long. this is a real problem for me..It hurts worse than any of my surgeries.. any way I want to thank you all for sharing your experiences that have been most helpful..I am also hoping since I had complications ( blood pressure proble) and the extra stay they are submitting to my medicare and I hope they will help with this bill, as it was all self pay. At the admitting interview they said they would not even submit it to ins. but they had me sign a paper to bill medicare. even if they pick up part of it that will help...so here is hoping that each day gets better and I can not wait to see the total final result here...loving my RNY and LBL
HI,
Congratulations on your surgery! I'm glad that you're feeling pretty good. I haven't had plastics yet, so I don't have very much advice. However, after I gave birth to my son who was 8 1/2 lbs., I also had a lot of pain in my tailbone (I broke it when I was a kid and it gives me problems occasionally). Anyway, I used one of those donut pillows that you can buy at a medical supply store. It helped a ton. Good luck and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Wow, that's a lot - 13 pounds - isn't it amazing? Imagine what you'll look like once that swelling goes down?
Try using one of those donut pillows, or else arrange your pillows in such away so as to leave a gap in the tailbone area. I have to say my worst source of discomfort (I say discomfort because I didn't need any medication after the first day from my LBL/hernia repair and arm lift) was my lower back area from having to lay and sleep in that position all the time. I had DH massage the area and I wiggled around to keep that area moving when it got bad - maybe that would help with your tailbone too?
I hope that medicare will pay for the second night. Seems a reasonable request.

Thanks, I have tried the pillows with the cut out for the tailbone, even stacked them two high will have to try the donut... it is really bad...the massage sounds good but is sore to touch... could be worse, could still be fighting with excess skin....great to have that gone, now looking forward to getting the drains out... will feel better with those gone...I am hope for the medicare but will not hold my breath...thanks again
My tail bone was killing me for months. It was protruding out too. Not fun at all. 2 things have helped me tremendously.
1) I got one of those travel pillows that are for your neck that are gushy and I sit on it. They have them in the travel section at Target. This is what the pharmacist recommended. I think I paid $7. I use it for long cars rides and such. It's comfortable and keeps the pressure off my tail bone.
2) I have had great results with Chiropractic care. I was a skeptic but to my surprise it has worked! My tail bone pain is almost completely gone now.

thanks for responding, I have the pillows with the cut out and stack tem two high was going to try the donut kind. I will try to get to Target and chek these out. I thought about the Chiropractor but did not figure it could help much but at this point I am ready to try any thing, Thanks again I guess this is a fair trade off to all the medical problems I had before losing weight. woould I want them back no way... I will deal with this for sure...
