Numbness from TT

Howdy all.  I am 3 weeks out today from a TT and double hernia repair.  I think my recovery is going well. I got the approval yesterday from both surgeons to start lifting my baby. Yeah!

I think I have a seroma (sp?) that they said they can drain at my 2nd follow up apointment next week.  With that gone my pain should be pretty minimal at that point.

My questions is about all the numbness in my abdomin. After my c- section, I had some numbness right above my scar.  They said it might or might not ever go away. No biggie becasue it was just a very small area.  With my TT my entire abdominal area is numb.  Please tell me some of this will fade.  I can't wear pants becasue it feels so weird.  I have on a pair of jeggins today (jean leggings) and I know they are to big now so I have to pull them up occassionaly.... no biggie.  Well between my spanx and my numbness they were about down to far and I could not even tell, I could not feel them falling down!

Thanks for reading and your thoughts.

The feeling will return, but it took a long time for it to come back. I had a TT, upper hernia repair, and BR done in 9/06. I had an anchor cut from my just under my breasts to my mons and hip to hip. Wear your constriction garment faithfully. Drink you water, and eat a lot of protein. The protein made such a difference in my healing.
Good luck. I am now age 63, lost almost 200 lbs, and had the PS when I was 60.

Same thing happened to me.  I was walking along in Walmart and noticed that my pants were dragging the ground and when I looked down...well let's just say I looked down just in time!  I had an LBL so I'm numb on the backside too!  I'm 9 weeks out.

Hello Kim, I had surgery 2 years ago this month. It has taken 2 years for my numbness to go away. I never thought it would. The doctor said it would that time. Be patient. Hope things are going well.

I had my TT (extended) about 2 months ago (give or take).  At first I was TOTALLy numb.  For example - when my husband's stomach touched mine, it felt like we were both completely concave and not touching except at a strip on the outside.  Very weird.  My arms (also had brachioplasty) were the same way - I couldn't feel them touching my body.

Now, I have a lot of sensation back.  Still feels a bit "weird" but I can tell that I'm touching the areas, and feel my pants/sleeves rubbing etc.  Not complete sensation...and sometimes a kind of painful tingling...but sensation.

So - it's getting better.

I remember having numbness after my c-section for a year or more...not sure when it really went away because it was gradual.  I think this is going the same way.

I had my TT 5 years ago and still have numbness in some areas.  I had a tattoo done around my belly button last year & did not feel any of the work done below my bellybutton.  For the first couple of months jeans felt weird and I still am not comfortable in jeans that come up to my belly button so I wear the midrise jeans and have no problems.  You may never get all of the feeling back but you will regain at least some feeling.  In the areas that are still numb I can feel pressure if I lean up against a table or counter but do not feel myself scratch in that area.
