There are many plastic surgeons, inlcuding myself, that accept Medicare. The problem is that Medicare will not pre-approve patients for procedures and thus if the claim is denied, you (the patient) will be responsible not only for the surgeon's bill, but also the hospital and anesthesia bills. Typically Medicare will only cover the abdomen, and only if it is considered medically necessary (eg- rahses, ulceration, skin breakdown, panniculitis). A lower body lift also includes a lateral thigh lift and buttock lift which will not be covered.
Many plastic surgeons will make you sign an advanced benficiary notice (ABN) to make sure you understand this.
