I am 3 years post-RNY. I have lost 140 pounds. It hasn't been an easy journey but one I would do again. I just found out today that insurance is covering my panni removal. After meeting with the PS, I have decided to do a full TT as well as a medial thigh lift. Surgery is scheduled for 12/13.
I am nervous but excited at the same time. Any advice on what I should expect? What should I have on hand when I get home? Is there anything I should get to assist with minimizing the scar?
Also, I prefer not to tell anyone at work that I am getting PS. I am telling my supervisor that I am having a necessary elective procedure. I have requested that she not tell anyone. Because it is over the holidays, most will assume I'm on annual. Has anyone dealt with "nosey" co-workers, etc? I'm hoping to return to work the first week of Jan. Is this realistic?
Thanks in advance!

I had a LBL with hernia repair and armlift - I told everyone I was having a hernia repair and no one has questioned that. Infact the hernia repair was the most painful part of my surgery. I have to wear a binder for 2 months post-op - just like I would if I had only a hernia repair.
I don't know about the medial thigh lift recovery, but I think you're cutting it close with returning to work. I'm 3.5 weeks out and I can work a full day if the work doesn't require heavy lifting or lots of activity but last week it would have been more difficult. Is it realistic - I would say borderline if everything goes well and you have the chance to rest when needed.
I had a lot of pillows available to make that "lounge chair" position that you will need to sleep in post-op. I also had cooked a lot of meals and froze them so I didn't have to worry about what to eat when I didn't feel up to cooking yet needed nutritious food. I found the best t shirts at Target - you will want to wear a tank t shirt under your binder to protect your skin from it's potential roughness. What is great about the Target ones is they are long (you need long enough to be longer than where your binder wraps your lower body, and they are cotton/lycra which means they are nice and soft and stretchy. I used the stretch to my advantage because I didn't have to use tape to hold bandages against my wounds - instead, after my shower, I just placed the bandage against the wound and then pulled the t shirt down over it and it held it snuggly until I got the binder on - this was so helpful because it was quick to get bandages in place and then the binder and just as easy to remove when you needed to shower.
Make a chore list of things you need to do before surgery - on the day before surgery I just kind of forgot to do important things like laundry - clearly my mind was somewhere else.
Get the prescriptions from your dr. prior to surgery so you can get them filled and have them waiting for when you come home.
