Okay, I had posted tuesday on how I had made it from surgery and was doing great...  Everything took a major turn on Wednesday morning and I stopped breathing and my heart stopped.  I lost alot of blood and the hospital took very good care of me.  I got to come home on Friday and I'm feeling great.  No pain just uncomfortable and I get very tired...

I have updated my pictures if you would like to see.  The Dr. said he took off 11 pounds.  When I went to the hospital I weighed 179 and this morning I weighed 179...  I am very swollen...  I just wonder how long it will take to get me back down.

Wow- you have really been through it. Good to hear you are on the mend. Your pics look great! Don't worry too much about the swelling gain. It will go down, in time.

Angie,

I am so glad you are on the mend...and you already look WONDERFUL!

The swelling is pretty obvious in your pics, just give it a couple of days.  Drink plenty of water and get as much protein (with vitamins/supplements!) in as you can.

I am almost 5 weeks out and just give it a bit (you have been through so much!), you will feel so much better.  Keep in mind coughing/sneezing is bad the first two weeks.

Take care of yourself!!!!

OMG, how scary - thankgoodness you were in the hospital and they took good care of you. You're looking fabulous in your pictures - I can see the swelling but you can also see how good you are going to look when you're healed. Isn't it nice not to have that ugly panni gone?

BTW, I am very serious about avoiding sodium in my food - really serious - it is one of the few things I can control and I know I'm sensitive. I came home from the hospital weighing two pounds less and I've lost three more pounds over the first few days at home so my swelling is limited. I don't know how much tissue was removed - maybe 8 pounds between LBL and arms? I take into consideration both the sodium that is inherent in the food as well as any added sodium from cooking. Are you watching your sodium intake? If you do you might see a difference too both in your weight and in the swelling.

Thanks everyone for your comments.

Glamour...
On Tuesday after the surgery I felt wonderful and tuesday night up until wednesday morning.  The nurse didn't empty my drain (for the blood) and when the Dr. came in on wednesday morning he asked if it had been emptied and I said No.  He went out and got the nurse and the CNA and they emptied it and it started emptying blood out of my stomach fast, one drain full after another.  It was blood that had been collecting all through the night. The doctor said it could be a bleed but I don't think that is what happened.  I truly believe it was because it hadn't been emptied all night.  I think if it had been emptied through the night that I would have been okay.  I believe that when they started emptying it, I just lost too much blood at one time...  My body couldn't handle it.  My Dr. told me that what happened to me had never happened to him before..  I am definetely better now though...  you will do fine.

Angie, thank you so much for sharing your experience.  That must have been very difficult and frightening for you and your loved ones. I am so glad to hear that you are now doing well and recovering.

I know that Plastic surgery has risks, and it is important for me to hear about them so that I can make an informed decision. After reading your post, I am going to ask my surgeon about staying overnight in the hospital after my tummy tuck, rather than coming home the same day.

you look great!

I had a similar experience and was bleeing internall and it wasn't caught soon enough...I'm very thankful to be alive!

Anyway, it really takes a good month or two for all the swelling to go down, you just have to be patient....and be sure to wear that compression garment...it really makes a difference!

All the best to you!
