You need to do research on the surgeon regardless of where you go.
Here, and at PSjourneys I saw some of Quiroz work that left me not even considering him, under any cir****tances.
Do some research and be very careful, because even IF the surgeon is willing to fix the mistake, it's not always possible, and it's on your body.

I'm going to Monterrey Mexico and Dr Sauceda in Jan. You can check out his discussion group.

Hey Christina,
I had surgery with Dr Quiroz 2 years ago and literally almost died. I started bleeding internally and it wasn't caught soon enough and when it was caught, I wasn't admitted into the hospital like I should have been. I had 2 additional surgeries to stop the bleeing, 1 sugery with NO anesthesia....It was a nightmare.
I just had another surgery yesterday, and had it here in CA, at the San Ramon Surgery Center, under Dr Michelle Place's care. She is wonderful, comes highly recommended, and is very fair with her prices.

I had a lower body lift and arm lift. It's one of those things where it was a fluke, in that it could have happened even here in the US...however once he realized that it was happening he should have admitted me into the hospital..instead he tried to take care of it on his own. He took me back into the OR and tried to stop the bleeding on his own......WITHOUT ANESTHESIA!! He opened me up and cauterized the area to stop the bleeding.....I was screaming outloud the pain was so intense. then the next morning when I got up to go to the bathroom, I passed out cold on the floor because I was still bleeding internally. It was a nightmare.
so much of this could have been avoided had he just admitted me into the hospital. I think it was a pride issue, not sure though.

Wow Janel, that's a nightmare of a story.
Bleeding after major procedures like abdominoplasty and LBL are not uncommon. I perform 1 LBL and 2-3 major abdominal cases every week and take 2 -3 people back to surgery every year for bleeding. Those of you who watched Big Medicine saw my patient Kelli develop bleeding after an LBL which required a blood transfusion but no surgery.
The other issues we see after these surgeries are seromas and less commonly, blood clots.
I insist on my patients being kept in a monitored hospital environment for 36 hours minimum after body lift, 24 hours for tummy tuck. Bleeding (and I have 10 cases to back this up) always occurs within that time frame.
Seroma prevention and management is done by early ultrasound so they don't get huge and then infected. Blood clot management is individualized but includes enoxaparin (Lovenox) for all patients who will travel 3 hours or more.
My opinion, based on experience, is that surgery done in a clinic setting (much less an overseases clinic not accredited by JCI) without medical monitoring or immediate availablility of laboratory testing is a roll of the dice.
Have I been caught in a sudden storm ? Yes. But I always have my VHF radio, life jackets, and "ditch bag" just in case. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoSQ7Ct3_m8
