Anyone have a medial thigh lift and TT together?
I've seen many posts from patients who have had a LBL and TT, or arms and TT, or thigh lift and arms, but not many with a medial thigh lift and TT (anchor cut with possible muscle tightening).
I'm scheduled to have both on December 13. I'm not planning to spend the night at the hospital because the fee is too high, FWIW. I'm not really concerned about the TT, but the thigh lift terrifies me. I've heard horror stories of torn stitches, gaping holes and months of wound care and that serious problems are inevitable due to tension on the stitches from swelling and the combination of sitting and standing, etc.
What can I do to minimize the risks? Do you recommend a recliner with a seat lift? I'm taking two weeks off and can take a third if necessary. I thought having a desk job would make things easier, but I'm thinking that sitting in a desk chair may be challenging.
I'll be meeting with my surgeon on December 1 for my pre-op and I plan to hit him with a million questions that I didn't have at my consultation, but I have now. He didn't seem the least bit concerned about doing both surgeries together.
Any advice is appreciated!

Hi there
I have had both but not at same time.. My surgeon wouldnt do it at same time and BOTH were difficult but manageable.
I think the thigh was worse but i had no problems with gaping holes or any break throughs..HOWEVER you have to be very mindful of every move you make and I would take 3 weeks if I could to make sure your safe.
I wore a compression garment for tummy and all way to calf (ONE PIECE ) that has the openings so you can go to bathroom without removing it .
A MUST is the urinal where you can pee standing but to be honest the male bottle or any thing really that will allow you to pee standing is a GOD SEND ...that puts far less stress on your stitches as far as standing and bending etc..
The day before surgery start MIRALAX which can be bought at Walmart . It is a stool softner and with pain meds , trust me , been there , you will need it .
I didnt know about it when i had my TT or thigh and what a night mare . Have has a couple procedures since I was told about it and not one single constipation issue at all . I take one capful every night as directed on bottle . It is tasteless also.
I am SOOOOOOO glad I am almost done with all my procedures and would do everyone of them again so not to bad.
I dont have small children and my hubbby is a wonderful caregiver so that is a HUGE PLUS as well.
You will be fine ...
CoNGRATS on your success of losing , now just to do the tuneup :)
Hugs and Blessings

Shirley,
Thank you for the info and advice!
With regard to the thigh lift, did you sit and/or sleep in a recliner for the first week or two? How soon were you able to sit at a table or desk comfortably? Are you supposed to remain as still as possible or move around carefully? My bedroom is upstairs, but I'm thinking I may need to move my bedroom downstairs into the living room temporarily.

I didnt do the recliner but did keep my legs elevated at all times ,meaning when I could. Restrict yoru salt too and drink water water water as it helps with the swelling.
I moved around carefully and you need to also as blood clots can form if you arent mov ing about as well as other problems can arise.
I hate to go pee ALOT so that kept me moving ...Use your arms to move yourself around , up down etc ...not your lower half..
I could sit the next day for short periods as in up right but reclining back om the sofa with pillows under my legs to elevate as I dont have a recliner ..
You will be great ,,,,,listen to the helpful ladies here and all thier experience will be a God send ..
Dont hesitate to ask and never feel stupid no matter how small an issue it might seem if you have questions..
We travel through this life only once.....lets make it a great journey and by reaching our to others in time of need is a great example of that ..:)

Shirley, I just had a thigh lift, not down to knee just in groin. Did you feel like your...so sorry, forgive my bluntness...private was sooo swollen and your cuts on sides of mons area were so far pushed in? I am having a breakdown and think that something is wrong. Also, no drains were used and there is a bit of a smell, I know gross, but the doctor said it is normal for a little oozing. I am so upset. Also, it seems that around the incisions is very red and almost peeling. What do you think? I am going to the doctor tomorrow. Thanks, Jenny
Hi Jeny
I was swollen very much too but my Dr uses drains for everything ,, he says is fluids gets trapped in there we could be in lots of trouble and additional pain for me as he would have to remove it via needle ,,ugggggggggg
No, my incisions were in the crease of the upper thigh like where your underwear fits (leg part of them ) I also not only have drains , he is a compression wearer Dr and always have a compression garmemt that I have to wear..
Are you wearing one? I know each Dr is diffeent but to be honest , I havent had any problems out of the norm so I am hoping yours is just swelling ....try elevating your legs , drink lots of water and no salt to see of you can get the swelling down.
I had very little if any oozing so not sure about that ..
I too would go to Dr and let him check it Jenny ,,,Better safe than sorry

I am wearing a compression garment, just no drains. I wish he would've used them. I didn't have any oozing with my lbl but had drains. So that must be the difference. The incisions are in the creases where the underwear is but seem to be so pushed high up, but it may be the swelling of my mons. I think I was just having a breakdown...lol I am going to see him soon so I am hoping all is ok. Thank you for responding...Jenny
I have had both procedures but not at the same time. They are both big surgeries and my surgeon preferred to do them in combination with other procedures and not together. Your core is going to be extremely sore if you have the muscle tightening so you will automatically depend on your legs to get you up and down. It's going to be harder having the thighs done at the same time. I'm very sure it's been done and you will be able to manage but it won't be easy. I did not have any would separation. You just have to be careful with your movements and don't do any unnecessary stretching. Getting in and out of a car or truck is tricky if you have an SUV. It's hard to stretch your legs that far and you should avoid it if you can.
Shirley has given you some of the best advice I can think of. I spent most of the first 3 weeks in a recliner. You want your legs elevated as much as possible. Sitting with your legs hanging down pulls on the incisions and causes swelling. I used ice packs in combination with my compression for at least 2 weeks and it really helped with the swelling.
I highyly recommend the urinal or Freshette for going to the bathroom and also a toilet seat riser to make the sitting a little less stressful. Flushable Wet Wipes come in handy as well. Just make sure you have some help in the early days. The less you have to get up and down the better for the incisions. While sitting in your recliner remember to pedal your feet to keep the blood circulating. Once you are more mobile walking around in your home will help a lot. Stay on top of you pain meds, avoid gassy foods and too much sodium. Drink lots of fluids and really push the protein. It helps in the healing process.
Best of luck to you!

Renee,
Thank you for responding.
I will definately buy the Freshette. I think that may be the best $25 I've spent. :-) I will have help the day I come home and all day for the first day, then I will only have help in the afternoons. I will just have to limit my movement until I have help standing and moving about.
When I meet with my surgeon for the pre-op, I'm really going question if I need muscle tightening. He said he would make the decision to tighten or not on the table.
I will try to rent a recliner with a seat lift which I think will be very helpful!
Thanks again!
