Any advice for a plastics Newb?

Hello,
I am going to have plastics this spring and starting to do some research. I am planning to have a tummy tuck and breast lift with aug. Possibly have a Brazillian.  Later I may have my arms and thighs done, but not too worried about that right now.
My question is how much recovery did any of you need, any special things I need to know, what questions do i need at ask, and what do you think of having the butt done at the same time as the boobs and tummy? How am I gonna lay down? lol. I most want the tummy tuck. I have looked at having a body lift, but really need more info on that and not sure I need it as I was a liteweight to start with at 253 as my highest weight.
Any advice is gratefully received. Thanks
Summer

Hey Summer,

The first thing I did was get a couple of local consults to have a starting point and find out what is and is not possible on my 49 yo body!  The other thing this did was to give me a reality check of what local PS's had experience with weight loss patients and just exactly how much $$,$$$ it would cost.

EYE OPENING!

Okay, so after I discovered that I would have to sell the house for surgery in the US (my insurance does not cover elective surgeries), I started looking abroad like I did for my VSG.

On 10/20 (about 3.5 weeks ago), I had an extended TT w/ lipo and breast lift done in Mexicali with Dr. Manjarrez.  I am doing great, fabulous and so much better than I hoped.  If I had a desk-only job, I could have gone back last week with no problem.

The breast lift was really no big deal.  Still have some swelling in my right breast (I think this is due to me being R handed and using that arm so much).  Left nipple is still numb but have recovered some feeling in the last several days.  It has been over 30 years since my nipples were on my chest!!!!LOL.  Really, my boobs look good.

Tummy tuck was a bit more uncomfortable.  After the first four days, no real pain just discomfort.  Don't get me wrong...coughing/sneezing were BAD for the first 2-3 weeks but now not too bad.  Also, Dr. Manjarrez lifted my mons...hubby thinks he did a good job on all of my parts......waiting to unwrap his early Christmas present in a couple of weeks....

My original plan was to have a butt lift at the same time as the rest of phase 1, but Dr. Manjarrez talked me out of it, said it would be much easier if we did the front and then the back.  Really, this has not been near what I thought it would be based on other posts.  This week I plan on getting back up to my 5.5 mile walk five days per week.

I would make sure your doc is a licensed cosmetic surgeon with lots of bariatric patient experience.  Look at lots of pictures.  Ask about his complication rate, infection rate, how many of "x" he has done, how many years experience and then post on here to see if anyone has heard of him/her.

Prior to surgery make sure you are active with some sort of physical regimen.  I really think that is what helped me recover so quickly.  Take your viatamins, iron, CA, D and B12.

Laying down was no big deal...after I learned how to get up and lay down!!!!!  Your compression garment is your friend.  Other than showering, it makes everything better.

Dr. Sauceda is very popular and does everything at once.  If I had opted to have everything done at once, I would have gone to him.  I plan on going back to Dr. Manjarrez next year for a butt and thigh lift.  Hmmmm, have been thinking about some facework but need to save $$$$.

Good luck, you are going to do great. Nancy

May I ask what you paid for your TT and breast lift? Did you have any augmentation? I may just have that done for now and wait for later to buy a butt. My only concern is not having enough fat later to get it re directed to my butt!

I went with the intention of having augmentation done.  After in-person evaluation, Dr. Manjarrez asked me what my long term idea was for my breasts.  I told him I had always been big chested and was tired of it but that I did not want to go to the flat chested extreme.  Amazingly enough he said I had plenty of breast tissue and would only need a lift. I was very leery at first but went with his expertise...yep, I am pleased with the results.  I am still a D cup but a "perky" D!

My extended TT w/lipo, 4 nights hospital, 4 nights hotel, all hospital related costs, pre-op lab/EKG, compression garment-everything EXCEPT:  airfare, food at hotel and antibiotics/pain Rx after hospital discharge was $5,800.  I think it would have been less if I had gone through his office directly rather than using Mexicali Healthcare.  I STRONGLY URGE YOU NOT TO USE MEXICALI HEALTHCARE-WHAT A WASTE OF TIME, EFFORT AND MONEY.  Look at my other posts for why I feel that way.

I did not lose a size, but my 6-8's fit so much better.  They really do look like different pants by the way they hang on me.

My shirts look good as well.  No more shoulder pains fromt the band cutting in.  I still have a little swelling but am so happy with the results.  I really never expected the final results to be this good and I am less than a month post op.

Something else I want to pass along, the three local consults I had ALL said I did not need to lose anymore weight (was at 150) before surgery because they needed a little to work with.  I think that kind of proved true; the doc lipo'ed only 100-200 cc total.

Good luck, please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you, You have given me lots to think on and lots of great advice. Do you have the number to contact Your Dr direct? I will give him your info so you can get a kickback from them as well. I love that about those Drs that if you refer someone they give you a nice present lol. I could still bear to lose a little weight. I have these tiny little bones and a tiny frame. I do not carry any weight at all well. Have a great night and thanks for your time.

Take a look at his website:

drmanjarrez.com

I'm not concerned about a kickback.  Just wanted to pass along some info like others did for me.

Good night.
