Compression bras
Ok ladies, I need your input. My doctor recommended this shop to go to, to get fitted for a compression bra. So today I did that. My question is, is there really a difference between that one and the ones you can get at Target or Academy? I need to buy more than just one, and wasn't sure if the ones at Target or Academy would do me any good or should I go ahead an purchase more at the shop the doc recommended?

Yes you want the compression. You want it to keep you lifted and firmly in place. A good fitting sports bra should be just fine until your incisions heal and you're comfortable enough to wear a regular bra. It's nice to have a couple so when you're laundering one you still have a clean one. If your incisions leak or ooze, peroxide is great for removing blood stains.

Tonya,
My doc recommended exactly what you mentioned:
front closure, sport bra from WalMart for about $10. The only thing he was specific about was NO UNDERWIRE.
Good luck, Nancy
***One thing I thought of is that I wear a man's "muscle" shirt or women's camisole under my bra. It helps with rubbing and if the incision lines ooze.

It's like Renee suggested, the sports bra gives the compression. I wore a 36 D before and still do. They are a little looser but it was REALLY tight before. I picked up new ones for the change and also for the front closure.
I haven't tried on my old underwires post op to see if there is a significant difference but I don't think there will be.
