Panni and stomach swelling
I'm looking for info/ support not sure which or possibly both.
I had a panni done the end of July. All went very well, 6 pounds of "stuff" lol removed etc. Lost another 10 pounds total at this point and it has stayed off....THAT makes me happy.
BUT, before my panni my stomach was basically flat other than all the excess skin that hung below and caused bad fitting pants, infections etc.
NOW, even almost 5 months out I get up in the a.m. with about a 4 month preggers stomach (and that is EXACTLY what it looks like as I have had comments on my age and the intelligence of being preggers...go figure) and by the end of the day can look anywhere from 6 to 7 months preggers. My pants fall down due to the swelling, jeans if I wear all day can leave horrid imprints just below my hipline as they fall and the skin has swollen, I can literally FEEL the swelling happen.
I'm wondering if this is normal and how much longer it will go on. I've done research online and most say 3 months or so, some same as much as 6 months....as I have had 5 babies, this pregnant feeling isn't so fun at 45....LOL and I can't find clothes that fit right for all day unless they literaly look like maternity clothes.
:( Just looking for info / support. Thanks all!

I read some even complaining of swelling after 12 months!
It really does take the body time to recover. I had a lower body lift with tummy tuck last month, and still wear my compression garment to keep swelling at bay. I haven't had much trouble with it, except when I'd been on a low sodium diet after surgery for recovery, then had a piece of pizza at the airport that was huge and salty - good grief that was stupid of me! There was so much swelling in my legs I could hardly walk.
I'm trying to take it easy on salt and leave the compression on all day and night, and have only a little swelling in the belly and legs if I'm taking it easy. I spend most of the winter skiing and snowboarding, and am worried that I may miss most of the season having to baby my body along like this.
Do you still wear something for compression, and what does your surgeon say about the swelling?

Dang 12 MONTHS? UG! LOL
I wore a compresion thingy for about 2 weeks, but ended up with a major panic attack and almost ripped out my drain tubes and the compression thingy all at one time (I attached the drain tubes to it so that they wouldn't fall all over). Doctor told me I could take it off whenever. He also said that I would have some swelling, never how long or anything like that.
I'm not a big salt person so I don't think that is the problem. I am pretty active (considering I was almost wheelchair bound at the time of my WLS) and do a lot of walking and stairs every day. But by the end of the day I'm swollen good, skin feels tight and all of that. :(
oh well, guess I just keep dealing....
sounds like your recovery is going well! That's awesome! Thanks for you input!
