Lisa ..

I am glad to hear you are well enough  to be  heading home today. That's good news and a blessing! You will be in my continued prayers.

i can't help feeling envious of all of you here with great surgery reports.

i was discharged wednesday afternoon and thursday morning was ambulanced to ucla, where i am STILL in the ER 25+ hours later waiting for a room.

prayers to all going in and coming out of surgery...

Lisa, I am so sorry that you are having to go through all of this. What happened at home that caused you to have to go back to the ER? This is scary stuff! I hope they can get you sorted out soon.

I developed a large hemotoma on my left flank (no dissection or lipo there) that was extremely distended and hard.  At 6 am, we decided with the surgeon's advice to readmit to the hospital.  Sitting up, I passed out, hard and DH called 911.  I passed out again when they tried to move me to the gurney.  My BP was very high for me and then plummeted in the ambulance.

I spent 30 hours in the ER at UCLA.  They finally got me in a bed.  15 minutes after being in my room, I was being wheeled to radiology where they put in an IVC filter to catch any further clots.

I'm on  heparin drip now... more comfy- I finally got the foley out and they added an air pillow top to the bed.

The one consistent thing that's been said by every medical professional is that Dr. Katzen did a great job with the surgery.  I have my own opinion as to what happened with the PE, but I'm probably the least qualified to offer any such opinion.

Your situation sounds so awful- I can't imagine- I had a fraction of your issues and felt terrible.

I'm getting (and have gotten) great care and advice.

My caution to all- DO YOUR RESEARCH on side effects and what steps to take just in case.

Bad thing is, a PE is a risk with ANY surgical procedure.  Glad you're okay!  Oftentimes, folks don't survive them.

To satisfy my own curiosity, were you given any heparin or Lovenox shots postop, and were you wearing compression stockings or Ted hose?

Postop, I was on lovenox and then also coumadin.  In the care facility and hospital, I was wearing air compression booties until the clots were discovered.
