Hay!! From an old girl here, 55 this year!

Yep, I got home yesterday, and I'm doing great!!  The worst part was riding home in the car beleive it or not. I got so nauseated that I made my husband stop and dig out the pan from the hospital!! But I didn't use it , in the end. Now, my main problem is the itchy binder.
Pain hasn't been bad. The outside stiches don't hurt at all most of the time, but the one little cough I did about killed me!! Inside stitches.
I am getting better every moment now. I go back to the Drs office tomorrow I think, I will have to call. I have two drains, hopefully they both will come out tomorrow?? I get tired darned easy, but no issues getting up and down.

He said he took about 6 pounds off, I am thankful. From what I can tell, I will actually have a decent figure...for the first time in forever!!
I have used quite a few hints I've picked up on this board, one being keeping a paper by the meds to write down when I took them.
I do advise being in shape, I think that has helped me. I have had a personal trainer for almost two years, worth ever penny!!!

Good to hear! For the itchy binder - I wear on old tank top under mine each day. Helps a lot!

Hi Diana, glad to see you're home too and doing well. I'm so thankful I didn't have any nausea coming home in the care - how uncomfortable that must have been. I did feel driving home was slightly uncomfortable and I was glad I had just short trip - about 20 minute thanks to Sunday's low traffic - no sports games or concerts causing problems. I can't imagine flying home or having a long car ride - that must really suck.

I am taking benadryl as advised from my surgeon to deal with that annoying itchy binder. The office notes also suggested using a t shirt under neath - I think I'll cut some fabric up to put under because with my arm lift I don't see getting a t shirt on easily for a few days yet.

Your lucky your drains may come out early. I'm not fond of mine - hate them hanging off my clothes and having to strip and drain them.

Take good care of yourself

I bought a package of men's fruit of the loom "wife beater" ribbed shirts and cut off the top part leaving about a 10" tube.  I wore this under my compression garment for the first few weeks and it made a big difference in the itchiness.

Ok gang,

5 days out, and I'm going a bit bonkers. This nice Indian Summer has not helped!! I am doing very very well!!

Yesterday I took a short walk, I am up all day, but am going to bed earlier than usual. So far I have kept out of the barn. (we have a small organic dairy here). I got one drain out Monday, and hopefully the other will come out on Friday.  The t-shirt hint, and the benedryl hints were great!!

Thanks guys, and my main advice is...Exercise before!!  It must have made the difference for me.
I even stopped at the gym today and thanked my trainer...he was surprised to see me!!

Diana~55 years old, and getting stronger every day!
