I had a TT on Tuesday and decided to go for just the horizontal incision. I've beem taking my Vicodin regularly but still in some pain, mainly down the abdominal muscles rather than the suture line. My drains are still in and draining mimimal amounts now. Will it be easier (less painful) to cough once the drains come out? I'm finding that really hard. My surgeon took off 5lbs in skin and lipod another 1lb.

Hey Linda,

Yeah for you with your TT!

Today, I am 17 days post extended TT w/ lipo and breast lift.  I feel really good.

Each day I felt a little better and about day 7 I really started feeling great.  Are you walking and moving around?  That will really help.  My pain at its worst was about a 6 on a scale of 10.

As far as coughing not hurting......well that was at about the day 10-14 mark.  Yesterday I had a sneezing fit and felt a kindof snap sensation and believe I busted an internal stitch.  Sort of a sharp short pain and then it was gone.  Keep in mind the layers of sutures that are put in so I am not overly worrying about it.  NO pain, bulging, point tenderness or anything else today.

I had 4 drains (2 breasts/2 belly) and didn't have much pain with them-mostly the inconvenience factor.

Just give yourself a little more time and you will really bounce back.

One more thing, remember Vicodin can give you constipation problems.  You may want to keep on top of that.

Take Care, Nancy

I had my drains out yesterday and can tell you that you will have a whole new lease on life!!!  Coughing is the same....I have a little allergy cough issue right now so I've been having to splint my cough with a pillow.  I ditto the other comments about taking colace or something so you don't have any issues there.

Thanks! I showered etc today and went round Target on one of thoses electric carts (with no brakes..) Trying to cut down the Vicodin but I've been taking Miralax for 10 days so not expecting too many probs. Just the coughing is very painful! Right now I'm trying to tell myself that it'll be worth it but I'm not convinced............Roll on one month..

I expect this will be kinda like childbirth:  You'll forget about the pain/discomfort once you see the real results!!!

Take care.

I had my TT and bracioplasty about 2.5 weeks ago.  I'm back to work on Monday - and I think that will all be fine.  I was moving slowly a week ago - and feel 100%  better this weekend.  Yesterday I shopped ALL day (7am - 10pm) and was fine!!  Came home with a little "treat" for my husband from Victoria's Secret and even got to enjoy it! ;0)

Coughing is fine now...sneezing still hurts a bit.  I have a bit of a cold going on.  Mostly because the abdominal muscles are still kinda tender.  But that gets better every day as well.

Getting rid of drains is the number one best thing - getting rid of compression garments will be next!

Congrats and keep healing!

Congrats on your surgery! I had minimal lipo on my hips, and that was more sore to me for longer than my actual lbl. Coughing and sneezing were painful for about a month or so. Stay on top of the pain with the pain meds, and don't forget to take the stool softeners to offset what the Vicodin can do to you!
