First of all you guys are AWESOME... I didn't think anyone would be this helpful, I kinda thought I was on my own and I'm not gonna lie being a 25 year old with no real knowledge of plastics or having them done in a foreign country has been scaring the CRAP outta me and you're both making me feel a lot better so THANK YOU heaps!!!! I am 10 months post op and have lost 160 pounds so far. I have another 50 or so pounds to lose before I want to actually have any plastics done, so I'm parying for March or so to be able to get to goal and get my plastics. I know people say I should maintain for a few months before but I KNOW I'll NEVER let myself gain any weight ever again lol. I think I'll probably need a LBL, crossing my fingers that an anchor cut isn't necessary, Thigh life, butt lift, Breast lift with aug , arm lift and lipo and anything else the doc says I need to make me look like a super model... HA yeah right but yeah I know I'm going to need some work done and unless I get AMAZING insurance from now until then I can not even phathom paying USA prices, I simply can't afford it so Off to Mexico I will probably go. What did you both have done?Do you have pictures? For some reason any pictures that have explicit content and require me to click and stat that IM at least 18 won't work for me no mater how much I click lol. Nancy, I did get the message... Thanks a million!!!

Hey Michelle,

I had an extended tummy tuck with lipo and an arm lift.  I am looking at going back next year for a bit more work.  A breast lift for sure and maybe thigh lift or butt lift.............we'll see.  I understand about the money, even saving for the prices in Mexico still takes creative budgeting but doing it here in the U.S. would be impossible for me.  The only other thing I would say, is to make sure your weight is really stable before you have these procedures done, or you will not be happy.  If you have them done, and then lose 25 pounds, they will not look the same, so do try to be at your stable life long weight before you go through all the time and energy and money to these procedures so you are not disappointed.  Good Luck Girl

PS  Nancy and I would be so very happy to visit you in Hawaii and discuss this further........:)

Greenbaygirl,

Who was your surgeon? Did you go with Nancy and end up having surgery with Dr. Majarrez?

I honestly don't know what my weight is going to be. My WLS surgeon didn't give me one and I know people that are my height (5'8")  that weigh as little as 140 or as much as 190 and look good so I don't know where I'll be at the end of it all. I think I want to lose about 50 more pounds before I actually have plastics. I just don't want to get butchered. I AM SOOOO scared of picking the wrong doc, just going to Mexico for something other than a week vaca for Margartia's and authentic tacos is completely CRAZY to me.  I'm soooo happy I got on here and posted that thread. I'm feeling a LOT calmer about going outside the US but like you said I can barely afford Mexico prices, I could probably only get 1 boob lifted in the states lol.

Thanks for the support,

Michelle

Hey Michelle,
Yes, I went with Nancy and used Dr Manjarrez.  It was a great decision with a very qualified, board certified (in Mexico AND the U. S.) cautious, conservative plastic surgeon.  Do your research, talk to people who have been there and ask alot of questions.  You're doing all the right stuff in planning ahead.

I was also wondering about Dr. Luque and doctor Gustavo Gaspar. I am planning a trip for March and working with Health Travel Guides International Medical Travel. They have given me 2 doctors to chose from and I want to make the best decision. I saw a little of Luques work and I could see the outline of the implant (or so it seemed) and the others doctors work looked better. Is there a way to check with the medical board in Mexico? I haven't found any medical board info online. Its just so scary to go to mexico but its the only way I can afford it. Has anyone used this other doc and can you guys send me any info you have on either doctor? Thanks so much!!!!

Hi Jennifer,
I was wondering what Dr. you decided to use.
I am considering dr. Luque as I have heard good things about him on my support group.
But I have been reasearching information and am wondering if I should look around more.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Cathy

i am happy to help. i have done a lot of research on both dr. and i am going with dr. gaspar blanco. he does amazing work with children for reconstruction at pro bono. he was plastic surgeon of the year in 2007. i havent heard any complaints. i have heard one about luque in regards t her belly button but overall she was happy. dr. gustavo gaspar blanco has website with good information. just be sue to use a translate site. google has one i used. its free. i have updated pics of his work if u would like to se them.  i just weighed my options and dr. gaspar just seemed more repspected. like i said, i hae done a ton of research on htem, including he is a board certified plastic surgeon. feel free to call with any questions.....please ignore spelling or anything else. i am typing this out on my phone and i can barely see it on my screen.

Yes I have had eye surgery done by Dr. Luque.  He was very attentive and I like the results.  At the time he was moving from one office to another, so he was not in the facility he is in now.  My surgery was in April or May 2010.  I had no complications other than excessive swelling because I didn't follow the directions with the medication.  I blame that however on the process more so than me though.   I went to Mexicali by myself and they gave me all of these directions while I was still sort of out of it.  But I would recommend him.  As a matter of fact I am getting ready to recommend him to my niece who is 1 year 3 month post op.

Thanks for posting this!  I'm also looking into Luque/Manjarrez.  I need someone who can do a lift with a good shape without using an implant.  And I probably need my tooshie fixed too

I am extremely happy with Dr Sauceda from Monterrey Mexico.  I was there in January.  You don't have to deal with anyone but Dr S.  He answers his own email.  You can see his website and his OH group page with these links.  I had an LBL, BL, arms and upper thigh lift, and 4 days later a full facelift.
