Has anyone had any adverse effects from going into a hot tub or sauna after Plastics?

I am wanting to go into a hot tub or sauna and it has been 3+ months since my plastic surgery.

I know they warn about waiting to go to either of these until your incisions have fully healed (mine have).

My question is... I thought I heard something where they warned against exposing yourself to 100+ degree heat (water/steam) because it could make your surgery scars permanently red (could prevent them from fading naturally).

Has anyone heard anything about this?

I'd really like to soak in the hot tub with this cold weather, but some of my scars are still light red in color and I don't want to that redness to remain due to me soaking in hot tubs or visiting a sauna/steam room.

Thanks for any light you can shed on this topic!

Wow what a great question! I never even heard of this possibility.  I wondered myself about it since I had breast augmentation 6 months ago.  I had a fleeting thought as I got into out new hot tub!!  I turned the heat down on the spa anyway below 100 as it was too hot and my parents are older and I knew it wasnt good for them.  I look forward to seeing responses to this!!

If you're that far out without an issue, I wouldn't have a problem at all with clearing you for that. I can't imagine it would have any affect on scar quality that far out. Suntaning would be much more likely to cause noticable scars

How long should you avoid suntanning?

While your scar may continue to mature for up to one year or more, I try to discourage much sun exposure on the scar for about 6 months. If you tan much early, the final color of the scar can be a little more prominent. If you choose to tan, you'd do best to cover the scar with steristrips or tape

What exactly does "continue to mature" mean?  Is it after that point, that the scar will start to fade?
Thanks
