I am meeting  with a Dr on Monday to discuss a tummy tuck.  I am about 5'7 1/2 and I weigh 170.  I used to weigh 245 and lost weight with a VSG.  Question is have i lost enough? I am afraid  I am still too heavy. BMI is 26.  I have so much fat around my tummy area it makes me feel miserable.  But I dont want to try and take the easy way out and regret this decision either

No you aren't to fat one of the things they look at is how long your weight has been stable.  I had my first round of surgery after being stable at 200lbs for a year.  I lost over 100's with my VSG.

Best of luck to you.

Its a tough thing to gauge, but IMHO it doesn't sound like you are still too heavy. A lot of what we see as "fat" goes away with the tummy tuck. I was surprised at how thin I was after having the 7lbs of skin removed. The first 2 surgeon's I saw told me I could lose 10-15 more pounds, which freaked me out. I thought my face was already starting to look a little too thin and I didn't want that. I think if you you lose too much weight, your face gets too thin and you look older and tired. I wanted to look healthy, not emaciated! LOL. I just wanted a flat tummy and the loose skin to be gone. A lot of it depends on what you want for yourself. I hope this helps. Best to you.

thanks to you both... Ms Shell. I have been reading your posts for years!  I am just a lurker and do not post though. I had my VSG in 01/09/2008. I love it so much but cannot lose my last 20!  I am hoping scheduling a TT will jump start me to lose 10 pounds in the next 8 weeks. Surgery date is 12/21!!!

Sandi, I meet with Dr M and Terri for a full consult on Monday. I am so excited and scared at the same time.  Hope we can meet sometime!

My BMI is also 26.  I had my first plastics consult last week and had the same worry as you.  However, the surgeon told me I was a perfect candidate and that I should NOT lose any more weight.  He thought I had about 15 lbs of skin he could remove.  I was amazed in the consult when he started pulling my skin up just how small I looked underneath all the flab

Susan, thank you for posting this!! I am not at goal and am weighing in at 175 at 5'4".
I am so afraid that the Dr. will look at me before surgery and say, sorry you are too fat no surgery for you. You pictures and post have made me feel so much better.

I am having LBL, thigh lift, small arm lift, and breast lift (just decided today to do augmentation) next Monday in Mexico with Dr. Sauceda.

I'm exactly the same height/weight as you and I'm going for my extended TT on Tuesday. No doctors told me that I had to lose more weight although I felt that I should have lost another 10-15lbs before surgery. Also, my excess weight is all in the abdominal area so hopefully after the TT i should look in proportion. I'll try and post before/after pics if I can get over the embarrassment!
